S4's with Stock ECU = Timing?

So what should I set the timing to given the following;
B13, stock ECU, JWT S4's

I'm currently running 19 degrees on my stock cams, which proved to be optimal when we ran a timing sweep using the Consult at the recent Mass Dyno Day. I know that it's recommended to run the cams at 15 degrees with the JWT ECU, but what about with a stock ECU?

Thanks,
Chris

I remember reading that S4's don't like lots of timing, especially up top.

When I had my stock ECU and I went to the dyno I got the best results at 15 degrees. Like mentioned in a above post they do not react well to advanced timing.

I put down very good numbers with the stock ECU.. So set the car at 15 degrees and you will be fine.. Even with the but dyno the car feels quicker . I set it at 17 once and the car died up top.

What they're saying is true, but the only way to be 100% sure is to test it on a dyno. Forgive me, but what is a timing sweep?

Ahh, timing sweep is a very cool thing. The easiest way to do it is with a Consult. The Consult allows you to advance or decrease the timing through its interface, without manually moving the distributor.

You start by manually setting the timing at a high number like 22*, and run the car on the dyno. For the next run, pull the timing back to 20*, next run 18* etc. Once the power starts to fall off, raise the timing by 1* to find the optimal point. 19* was optimal on my car with stock cams and 89 octane gas.

S-series cams ??

Would this 15 degree's timing be true for all s-series cams or just for S4's? The reason I ask is, I put S2's in my car and I have been getting really low ET's and low trap speeds, and I could kinda feel that I didnt have top end. I set my timing at 19*, and I just bumped it down to 15 and it felt a lot better up top. I dont have the JWT ECU BTW. Any advice would be appricated.

JWT S-series cams for non-roller engines are intended for 15* of ignition advance. So are roller S3 cams, actually, but roller engines aren't a part of the discussion at hand, are they?
