1996 200sx Se

Hi guys this thread is for a good friend of mine that has a 1996 SE...

He has ideas that he has and just has some questions to ask about the engine mods that he wants to do to it...so here they are as listed:
- JWT ECU w/ Stage 1 Cam ECU
- JWT Stage 2 Clutch
- JWT GA16DE Cams
- JWT Lightened Flywheel
- UR GA16DE Pulley
- HS 2nd Generation Header
- NGK Spark Plugs
- Stillen Pop Charger
- Port/Polish Head
- SMC Short Throw

Now remember this is what he has in mind and he just wants to know a couple of things...
- What type of increse would he feel in Port/Polishing the head?
- What type of increse would he feel witht he cams and with the ECU being programmed for the cams?
- And also are there any other all motor mods that he can make, like boring stuff out or porting thigns out, stuff like that?

Thanks guys once again for your input...

With all that he might be putting down 120HP if he's lucky.

Im not a big fan of port/polish or extrude honing. Lots of $$$ for too little gain right now.

Swap in a JDM SR20 and BAM!!.......instant 124 horses with room to GROW.

Unless he goes DET it would be alot cheaper than all the stuff you mentioned before. I bought my JDM motor for $300 from K. Watanabe. I love it. Figgy I love the tornado tomato thing, but tomato's are kinda heavy aren't they!

I'd suggest finding a SR20 powered donor car and doing a motorswap. How much power can you get with all that stuff maybe 120-130whp tops but the torque will be alot lower. However if you intend to keep the GA why not just turbocharge it. For example the stock BB turbo would do nicely on it. You could make around 170-190whp, run 370cc injectors and other stuff. It would cost the same as all the bolts you just mentioned.

Ok so before you are seriously flamed. You plan on doing all this stuff to a GA?

i dont know about any of you but i think doing anything to a 1.6 is pointless just get a 2.0 and call it a day. Its the only way to go

WHAT?

In case some of you didn't know I'm a dedicated GA crackhead. Anyway, most of the stuff you list is either not made or will not work on an GA16. The 300ZX pistons would require an overbore that would probably damn near end up into the next cylinder (not literally). Sleeve block? JWT T4 cam? They only have 1 GA16 cam profile.

Anyway I have done everything listed on the first list. My car is probably making between 110 and 120 WHP. This is WITH the cams and ecu reprogram along with headwork. For your friend to see the real benefits of the cams the cam profile ECU should be used. Main reason is that the JWT ecu insreases the rev-limiter to 7300 and the JWT cams make power all the way to 7300.

The other route is the SR20 swap, it all depends on what he wants to do and how much money he has.

FOr some reason I have this silly idea of throwing a whole bunch of $$$$ at my GA16 to see what it can do!
