roller head and B14 or B13 block

My question is, will a B15 roller head mount and work on a B14 or B13 block?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking to buy a used block to get bored for 87mm Z32 pistons to use on my B15. And I don't believe there will be many B15 blocks for sale out there.

Also, if anyone knows where I can get some direct replacement 11:1 pistons instead, let me know.

Will VE pistons yield 11:1 compression in the B15 roller motor? I think someone said 11.3:1?

funny you would be better off putting an older head on the b15 block, same block as the VE if that helps any

Well, if I could find a spare B15 block, then I would use that, but I doubt anyone is selling one. I can get a B13 or B14 block cheap, and send it to get bored, and slap the pistons in and voila...

Yes, it's possible, because it's been done. Ask David Evans about the 200SX with the roller head at last year's SERCA convention.

They are all the same block so just put any block you can find on there. I you can find a roller bottom end you will get the better crank.

I already have the roller motor in my car. I just need a block to send to be bored to 87mm.

Once I get that back, I can swap my crank into the bored block along with my stock pistons and the new Z32 pistons.

Between the lower drag of the rollerized valvetrain itself, either the head shape or the piston (we're not sure which, but something in there is worth 3 points of compression ratio), bigger injectors, a different intake manifold, and the lower inertial mass of the crankshaft, it's worth about 5 CHP (145 vs. 140, according to Nissan propeganda). Not to mention relocation of the oil filter to the second-most-retarded location possible. Theoretically, there are dozens of advantages to having a rollerized head. In the SR20DE reality, though, it's a severe handicap, as JWT's S3 grind is the only readily-available upgrade, and the valvesprings limit it to about 7200 RPM (though the B15 ECU redlines at 6600).

Jon, go here:

It seems nobody believes me that the roller engine has .3 more compression than a USDM SR20DE.

Well I believe that the 95-97's were not really 140 hp due to the newer intake & cam design (I know i've heard this before). Some how they were still able to call them 140 hp. The 145 hp motor is probably more like a 10 or so hp increase over the 95-97's.
