Free Performance

Something I used to do when I built efi muscle cars was to use a drill bit to elongate the bolt holes on the tps to take some of the plaly out of it and get better throttle reponse. Would this work with an sr20? Do you have any tricks to improve performance without spending a bundle?

Better throttle response....take the slack out of the cable by tigtening it. For a free bump in horsepower (5-7) advance your timing to 17*. Hope this helps - Mike

The TPS already has elongated holes for adjustment. The highest setting you'd want to go is generally no more than 0.55V. Factory spec'd range is between 0.45V and 0.55V, but you are able to go up to, if not higher than, 0.60V.

Don't really know if you' wanna go higher than 0.55V. Would cause the car to run too lean, wouldn't it?

I have mine at .65v. The higher you go the RICHER you would run. Mine is set higher to compensate for a mildly bored MAF. you can turn it up even higher than .65 as well.

Your are at WOT, you need to set it with the tb closed. Also it needs to be .45-.55 not 5.0.

Setting the t.p.s. above nissan recomended spec of .48v turns off the closed throttle position switch which is inside the t.p.s and tells the ecu the throttle is cracked and cause your vehicle to idle high. This can have its avantages and disadvantages.

Another cool free trick is you dont wanna buy motor mounts yet just take a ruler and measure your front motor mount from top to botom take a piece of metal not too thick cut it out and drill out holes where the bolts go through the mount. take it apart and put on the new piece of metal next to the mount and your done, vibration is not bad, should help stop wheel hop, throttle response will feel better too. and its free just your time.
