LSD! What prize do I get?! Yeah, I remember the Eight Great Rides in SCC back in 1998, they chose the 98 SE-R and said that it had VLSD also. Oh well, at least I got power windows, locks, sunroof and cruise! ;)

I am buying a 99 se on tuesday and got some performance on order and can i take my car to nissan and say edmunds claims that the car has a lsd and it dosent can u please instal a vlsd please???or what do i say i want a lsd???:confused:

Technically it is a VLSD (Viscous Limited Slip Differential)...

With my experience with the local Nissan techs, who knows!?

They might just say,
"LSD?!, what's that?" :D

you can easly get LSD. But Nissan is not gonna do it for free. Nissan has no ties to Edmunds at all so they dont care what the print. All you have to do for LSD is get yourself a 95-97 200sx SE-R tranny and swap iy out.

Me and my brother were thinking if you anyone has a 98-99 se or ser or se-ltd brochure and read the fine print or specs to find indication that states that the cars should have a vlsd.And then we can sue and get a lsd...:D

I have a '98 SE-R brochure, and it says nothing about having VLSD. ALL '98-'99 B14 SR20's did not come with VLSD from the factory. Seems like it was a very last-minute change, as the door decal in my car lists the tranny designation RS5F32V which is the VLSD tranny, but non-VLSD SR20's have the RS5F32A tranny. Ah well...

Hey you said your car says RS5F32V that you have a lsd tranny and you dont why dont you take it to nissan to verify and get a VLSD :confused:

I already know I don't have VLSD. The tranny casing is different than the VLSD tranny, and after 10+ autox events and about 6 track days, I KNOW FOR A FACT the car doesn't have VLSD.

Why bother... It'll be too much hassle than it's worth. And even if I went through the trouble, It won't be a freebie job. And if the service guys are smart enough, they'll know that the '98-'99 SR20 cars DID NOT come with VLSD. The door placard says the car has the RS5F32V transmission, but it DOES NOT. I've seen other '98 SE-R's with the same door placard (different VIN, obviously).

Just face it... '98-'99 SR20's DO NOT have VLSD from the factory, and never will have VLSD from the factory. Just by a used '95-'97 SR20 tranny and swap it in.

I just pulled out my car's window sticker (yes I still have it) and it says nothing about a VLSD.
But it does say my car should have tinted glass, I didn;t see no tinted glass when I bought it. Oh well , too late now.:mad:
