I am looking to get new cams and wondering wich kind is the best to get, it for a gtir engine. Also if I was going to have the head reworked, is there some place I should send it or just take it to the machine shop that I always go to. Thanks, Jason

You will get different answers from every direction. *Most* people will tell you JWT cams! They have been dyno tested by many people with great results. There have been several issues of SCC that have dyno tested various Cams. Tomei, JUN, HKS, GReddy and JWT all make cams for the SR20DE. It comes down to you decided which cams will work for you. Most people have very little to no dyno figures on the different Tomei, JUN or other cams. Some people are willing to take the challenge and try out different combinations. I decided to *break the mold* and go with GReddy cams & valve springs. I will dyno test the cams on both my personal car and Ryan Nielson's turbocharged Sentra SE once they come in.

Luis, I thought the GTiR uses a solid lifter cam, no?
If that's the case I think Tomei and JUN are the only ones that makes a cam for it.

Thanks for catching that Jay! I didn't even read that it was for the GTiR. In that case, HKS, Tomei, JUN and now JWT carry cams for the GTiR. I know Shaggy (Chris Allen) has the 1st set of prototype JWT Solid lifter cams. I have part numbers for the HKS cams in my office at home if you are really interested.
could you please give me some part numbers, Thanks Jason

Chris Allen's car made 350whp at 15psi on 91 octane pump gas at out last dyno day also. Needless to say, I was impressed.

***Yes, they are made specifically for the GTi-R mechanical lifters. They do not require aftermarket springs, so you can still use the stock ones. If you *do* want to upgrade the springs, the SR20DE JWT springs will work. The GTi-R comes stock with dual valve springs. Simply replace the stock outer springs with the JWT springs. Thus, you will ahve JWT outer springs and stocker inners.
The cams are supposed to be comparable to the S3 cams. With a T3/T4 on a high flowing GTi-R motor and these cams, I would expect to see at least a 40-50 hp increase at around 15--16 psi.
I will be dynoing my JWT cams when I get the engine back together.
Peace,
