Hey,
I lowered my 1998 200sx a few months ago with Tein S-Tech springs. It looks awsome, but the front end is alittle stiff. When i finished the install of the springs i noticed there was a paper in the box saying how much you should cut the bump stops.... lol.. do you think that would help the ride if i went back and cut the bump stops alittle? Also, i was thinking about some new struts for the front but I don't think it would help because it seems there is no suspension travel in the front.... any advise would be appreciated! :biggthump

Your car is hitting the bump stops (which are not compressable). You must cut them to get any suspension travel.

Thanks for the info bro. :biggthump But do you think if i cut the bump stops, when i hit a bump on the road it would compress the spring to the point of hitting the bump stop again and making a loud bang noise? (a friend i knew had coilovers and when he hit a good sized bump it would make a loud bang, like bottoming out.... but he did a shitty job installing them and might have forgotten something like a bump stop.. lol).. .. or do you think i should shut up and cut the bump stops and see what happens.. :eek2:

i cut my bumpstops on my b14 when i installed the tein s springs. before i did it was real bouncy. just remember a stock replacement strut won't last that long with a 2.4 in drop. mine went about 3 months before the fronts were very weak. that was with new tokico blues, which aren't the best. it still isn't going to ride great even with the bumpstops cut but it will be better

Cool, I had GR-2's on my classic years back and I really liked them a lot. I just got some AGX's :D and I'm just awaiting some Hyperco's :D for my SE-L, I can't wait to replace my blown-ass, low-rider truckish suspension that I currently have.

BTW, did you ever get with Shannon about a DET? I told him you might be stopping by.

well.. about the DET... (bad news) ... Being that im only 18 and still living with my mother and father... My father said it would be a cool project.. but.. my mom is freaking out about it.. she says i will end up killing myself because its too much power... WTF  ... im a good driver i swear.. . but theres no convincing my mom... so my dad agreed to help me do whatever i want to do with my DE motor.. i have like 4 grand saved and now all i want is a 14 second 1/4 time. I don't care if its a 14.9 .... lol.. thats my goal.. I have a Hotshot header and HS intake on the way too.. and im going to tear apart the head and port and polish it and get all new goodies including some nasty cams.. :D

Well, I think 14's should be pretty damn simple to achieve with $4K! LOL! Just make sure you put at least 200 of those dollars into that tranny (for a limited slip) *** you don't want all that power going to one wheel! Anyhow, keep us posted on whatever you decide to do....... :biggthump

for four grand i would just get a ve then, don't waste too much money on bolt ons and you might be able to convince the rents about the ve. maybe don't even tell them, just tell them you pulled the motor and put it back in w/ a different valve cover
