Just drove into the parking lot at work today, and noticed a groaning sound when steering the car. Lo and behold, I looked under the car and there's PS fluid all over. It's coming from near the frame close to the front of the cat conv. Had to rush in to work so I didn't give it a complete look. I'm going to get a better look during lunch. Anyways, I'm hoping it's just a hose and have the following questions:
1) If I don't get it fixed before going home, will driving the car home (40 miles highway) kill the PS totally in this condition?
2) Is there a way to bypass the PS pump altogether if it's faulty? Is it driven off it's own acc. belt or the main one (prob the main one but I'm not sure)? Haven't looked at it really.
3) If the PS pump is broken somehow, what's the best way to bypass it's function while making sure it doesn't break if it's still being driven by the belt?
4) If it's NOT the PS pump, is there anything else aside from a hose that it could be (like tricky stuff)?
Thanx for the advice, I just want input so I can combine that with what the garage tells me later and make some educated fix. Thanx!
