Lastb0isct 01-09-2005, 09:26 PM I have a 91 se-r and am wondering how much it would cost to do the ve swap. Just wondering so i can save up. Can i use stock tranny? How hard is it to swap an engine? Can i do it w/ a couple of friends? Thanks a lot guys.

Search is your friend.
liupj 01-09-2005, 09:43 PM Lastboi, dude, not to put you off from this forum, but *EVERY* post you've ever made is easily answered with a search.
VE swap? ~1200 for a motor (if you're lucky). If you're wondering how hard it is to swap an engine.. best bet is to have a shop do it for you. A notable shop.
Maybe you should go to west coast customs..

Lastb0isct 01-10-2005, 12:17 AM I have searched but i just want to make complete sure before i even consider going for it. I know that the sr20ve is around 1900 from JGY. Im just wondering if other people have better prices or are closer to me. Plus i wanted to know if installation would be easy for someone that had never done a swap before. I will have many friends to help that are a bit more savvy than me.
liupj 01-10-2005, 01:27 AM Low612 has a few VE's. Holiday prices were 1300 I think? Probably more since holidays are over.
Andreas has some for under 1900 too, I believe.

billc 01-10-2005, 07:00 AM The cost of the motor is just the beginning. Add in a cam switching device ($150-200), JWT ECU ($600), HS Gen6 or Fuji header ($600), maybe a bigger exhaust ($400), and miscellaneous parts and pieces ($100) for a realistic estimate of your total cost.

Not to mention: new clutch and pressure plate depending on the condition of yours. Since your in there you might as well ge the lightweight flywheel. It also depends on what you have already (intake, if you have it).
Lastb0isct 01-10-2005, 12:35 PM I'm also curious if the ve will pass smog in california. Since it's so hard to pass smog out here anyways.
mpg9999 01-10-2005, 01:11 PM This is how I would do it. You dont HAVE to have all of this, but its how I am doing my swap.
SR20VE: 1300-2000
JWT ECU: 500-600
Clutch: 400
CAI for lowport: 200
HS Gen6 header: 500?
2.5 or 3 inch exhaust: 500?
Something to activate the cams: $??
Misc: $??
