Its just cosmetic as far as Im concerned. Peoplehave asked this before and I dont remember hearing anything special about it.
I was going to take mine off once. But then I'll look like a regular XE. :p

i read somewhere that it causes drag because it catchces the turbulant air that comes from the roofline droppig off in the back.

I removed my spoiler. I like having people say...wow thats a fast sentra! Hehe. The prblem you face removing it is there are 4 holes left behind. Mine have been welded closed.

There really wasnt much difference I just like simplicity. I have no badges either. Well, there are 2 bolt kind of devices that hold the sides down. These unscrew with some effort. If not I just grabbed them with pliers and pulled. Then there is some thick adhesive under there that responds well to being warmed up. It is not too hard, but I will tell you the holes on the outer part are almost 1/2" each. I think with no spoiler the car just looks lighter. But the trunk should get repainted, mine is still primer. Don's say I didnt warn you about the holes!

No
The spoilers on our classics are so low profile that it doesn't actually work. If you was to get one of those ricey Aluminuim spoilers and set the angle right you might get some down force around 80mph.
Darren
The stock spoiler would do a *little* at 100+ mph IF it wasn't stuck in the separated, turbulent flow off the sharp angle at the roof's edge.
And really if you were to buy any spoiler and expect it to do much you would have to raise it up above that separated flow. Something Type R-ish or higher.

next time it rains, pay attention to the back window when you are at speed... you can see drops of water getting lifted up the rear window! it because all the air is flowing off the roof and creating a low pressure zone around the trunk.
