I was just wondering, do they make a RWD version of the VE? I also have a 510, and one day after its derusted and all painted up I'd like to install an SR. I would be more than happy with a DE, but the VE is special... :-).

Thanks in advance!

Just because they don't make it doesn't mean you can't make it :)

If you can read Japanese, you might find the answer here (http://www.ne.jp/asahi/eagle/racing/newpage4.htm)

He took the cam sensor and installed it on the back of the head. He must have installed the de or ve gear on the cam sensor. not a good pic for the vvl solinoids but he must have made a plate and relocated them.

I was under the impression that there was a sr20ve 240sx in Australia but I'm probably wrong.

Complex. I guess I wil have to go after just a standard RWD DE from an NA silvia. My SE_R has me SR-HOOKED!

We dont get 240sx's in Australia, no nissan cars were officially imported with the sr20ve, very hard to find a decent example here

I think he was just using "240sx" to expalin to a fellow American what kind of car....and I think he was meaning also that someone had done the conversion...not that they came out in Australia like that.
BUT that's how I read it and I'm quite possibly completely wrong :)

Theyre called 200sx's here. We only get the turbo models here though. There is a man doing a rwd ve/de conversion soon i think into an s13 shell

dude get a DET RWD tranny and mate it to the SR20VE. simple as that. The VE block is no different to the DE.

Are you sure a RWD transmission will bolt on to a FWD block?

I doubt it very much. The RWD bellhousing is quite a bit bigger, as is the flywheel/clutch assembly. This argument was made on another board a while back (FWD DE in RWD chassis). Too many things about the FWD engine are wrong.

Apparently you can however bolt a FWD VE head onto a RWD block and make it work. There's another thread around here somewhere about it.

Thats what I thought, I think sr20de_gti is confused.

Ve on a DE head= yes
DE FWD engine to RWD DE tranny= THUMBS DOWN!!!

I don't know much about VE's but wouldn't a s14 and s15 engine be a VE since it has variable valve timing. Or is the VE something totally different?

Variable Timing Control (VTC) - S14 and typeII Maxima uses this. This can be applied to the intake and\or the exhaust camshaft. It is mainly applied to the intake camshaft cause that is where most of the power is. VTC basically advances and retards the cam, therefore changing the duration but not the lift.

Continous Variable Timing Control (CVTCS) - QR25, VQ, etc.. use this. Same as VTC except it has more adjust ability and is always in operation instead of kicking in at a certain rpm. Can also but used on both or just one camshaft. For example the 350Z: 04 Models have CVTCS on the intake cam only the 05 Track and Anniversay models uses CVTCS on both intake and exhaust and the horsepower was bumped up 11hp (18hp bump on G35C)

Neo VVL - SR20\16VE\VET This system is just like Hondas Vtec system. Two cam profiles on one camshaft. Intake HI/LO and Exhaust HI/LO. When the cam changes over, the duration and lift change also. This system does not have a way of infinitly adjusting the duration of the cam like VTC and CVTCS.

Cars with VTC or CVTC basically have adjustable cam gears that retard or advance the cam. VVL has TWO cam profiles on ONE cam. So a VTC\CVTC cam will not work in a VVL engine!
