: car runs, but not that good..

Ok, today chriscar and I finished up my install. quick breakdown, fresh superclean JDM, T25/4-bar/bored MAF/370s/s4s..typical t25 or t28 setup.

so, the car runs, but not well. hit the gas, there is hesitation, once it gets going it feels better. Car was smoking bad when we first got it to run. We *think* it might have something to do with the vacuum lines  I took these 2 pics so maybe somebody running a t25 with a TMIC can chime in and tell us if the lines are hook up right.

basically, a hose goes from the wastegate (red hose in pic) to the piping of the TMIC. we are confused as to what hose goes on the blow off valve, and also the charcoal canister under the master cylinder is missing some hoses. the JDM intake manifold has so few vacuum lines as compared to the USDM one. here are the pics, any help advise appreciated. chris should chime in as well. also, the red dryer house that goes to the valve cover is connected to one of the fittings on the intake pipe. there is also another small hose on there, but we blocked that one off.

the car runs and we did hit boost, but something is not right. car should be way faster than it is. also, the red dryer hose that goes to the valve cover is connected to one of the fittings on the intake pipe. there is also another small hose on there, but we blocked that one off.

Rob you will be sucking in oil if you leave the valve cover vent plumbed directly into the intake like that. There is a write up with a better method in the how to section. It also sounds like you might have a boost leak if its hesitating a lot. How does it idle? Do you have a vac/boost gauge?

It actually idles good. turbo and s4s sound badass! i have a guage, but we ghetto rigged the install by just shoving it one of the vacuumn lines and the car didnt hold an idle, so we disconnected it. where the hell to you install the 1/8" line to read boost? i guess we should remove the line from the intake to the valve cover asap. chris, get on it! ;)

When we did my swap, we hooked up all vac lines, thats probley your problem, a vac leak. my b14 w/det swap, we hooked all vac lines to the charcoal canister. look into that. also, check timing.

that sticker on the Charcoal canister shows you where the lines should go... Also, there is a thread in this forum on how to trick the EGR solenoid... If you need it let me know and I'll try and dig it up for you...

there needs to be a hose coming from the right side of the intake manifold to the intake pipe somewhere before the throttle body.. i got the same setup you do and my car would stall run like crap idle wierd until i fixed that hose.. my hose was kinked so in essence it was as if it were capped off, once i cahnged the hose to something that woudnt bind the car ran perfectly... now i just gotta fix my exhaust manifold gasket =)

Good luck

oh btw i dont have the charcoal canister hooked up at all so the hoses that did go there are either used elsewhere are capped... so as TUned said *** tmight be your problem
