I was thinking that all of us south-eastern guys should have a geekout. I was wanting to get some input and see who could possibly make it and where you guys would like to have it.
I would try to have it here @ my house but the garage is full of projects @ the moment.
Also would it be better to wait till the spring or do it now.

I really wish I could figure out where TN is, is it south east or is it East...oh well

but ive asked about it a few times but cant get any replies. I can host it here at my house. I have a house that is totaly empty and could hold quite a few people if people didnt want to pay for hotel rooms. thinking about something in the spring when bristol motor speedway opens back up. go up to thundervalley if anyone likes to drag race. i dont have a nice garage or anything but lots of room. gravel for a driveway mostly also... so not alot of wrenching can go on. i just remembered i may have access to a dyno so thats one thing. so there are some ideas.

im now in upper east tn, the tri-cites....elizabethton....spitting distance from BMS

Bristol Motor Speedway is not that far for me or anyone in middle-east NC. For example from Winston Salem NC it would take me around 2.5 hours to get to Bristol. Anyone From middle Virgina-west Virginia it would be about the same. From Northeast GA it wouldn't be that far either.

I'd be intrested to meet up in the spring. Anybody know of any car shows, or races around your neck of the woods that time of year?

Bristol! YES, Bristol! I'd love to come down to Thunder Valley again. I used to race my small-block Camaro there in the mid-80s. It'd be nice to make a few passes there again...

I'm all for it. In the spring, of course, when things are warm.

And the track's open :D

Bingo!!!

Anyways I don't know if this has to be done by a moderator or not but I was wanting to join or move this message to the one on the south forum, or vice versa. Anyone know how?

I might be down for a meet in NC. Depends where, its kinda a long drive from Northern VA. U guys should have a meet in the outer banks in the summer, now that would be cool.

well track wont open until then anyway. But Greg was saying it would be cool to go watch some pro boys shoot it out in thunder valley. I dont mind didnt know if anyone else would but Greg thought you would. So if you would like to see John Force and Kenny Bernstine shoot it out, thats the usual big thing up there I can find out when that will be and post times.

Also if anyone wants to join me, my dad, and Calum in Chatt march 15 to watch some rally come on...

Here's the NHRA 2002 Schedule: http://www.nhra.com/2002/schedule.html

The Bristol event is April 26-28. The 26th is my birthday. I could come down for Friday qualifying, and that's about it. I have to fly to Las Vegas on Sunday.

If you've never seen a Top Fuel or Funny Car up close, you need to do so. They are simply the nastiest, meanest, most beautiful-accelerating devices on God's green earth. You will be in awe, period.

I could even do most of Saturday at Bristol, then boogie back home in time to pack up for my trip on Sunday.

The auto-x in Sanford has been moved to the following weekend to avoid a conflict with a national tour event in Ft. Meyers. Also, it's a members-only event for Tarheel Sports Car Club members. The March 17th event at Laurinburg (concrete!) or the April 7 Sanford event would probably be better.
