: valve cover
BRUNO91W SE-R 02-20-2005, 10:41 AM I was just wanting to know if it would be possible to sand down the valve cover and paint it. If it is possible then what would be the best paint that would not melt under the hood. I think this sounds like I great idea but I dont know if it is going to work.
AG>SR 02-20-2005, 10:59 AM ....yes........just take your time and make sure its clean and grease-free before you paint.........2 light coats completely dry before a 3rd heavier coat of any hight temp paint......can be followed up with a few coats of high temp clear-coat....... I have a collection of my own ......good luck...
BRUNO91W SE-R 02-20-2005, 11:34 AM hey thanks man I really appreciate the info. I will try and post pics of it when Im done.
BRUNO91W SE-R 02-21-2005, 09:57 PM I finished painting my valve cover today and it looks awsome, I think. I painted it blue with yellow letters. I think that that is going to be the color scheme of my engine bay. If any one wants to know how just ask me it is very simple and it costs about 30 dollars. It will make your engine bay look a little nicer than having just the stock valve color.
Classic SE-R 02-21-2005, 10:09 PM ^^ thats one beautiful engine bay
JGsnismoser 02-21-2005, 10:57 PM Do small coats and after that 30 minutes in the oven around 200degress wont hurt it.. just make sure you use 1200degree paint :)
Rittmeister 02-21-2005, 11:03 PM 500 degree paint works fine and you don't have to bake it.
nizzan4u2nv 02-21-2005, 11:04 PM A little sanding, couple coats of paint, some clear coat and wetsanding on mine.

BRUNO91W SE-R 02-22-2005, 01:48 PM hey guys I painted mine and when I put it back on It started acting crazy. It kept sputtering and when I drove it it didnt have that much power and then a little smoke started coming out of the hood. What happend?
BRUNO91W SE-R 02-22-2005, 01:50 PM oh yea and when I sarted it the motor kept shaking. What the heck is going on?
BRUNO91W SE-R 02-22-2005, 02:01 PM I masked everything off and painted it. I put it on in kind of a hurry this morning and when I started it it shook the motor and wouldnt run right. I did clean the oil out of the top of the valve cover.
