what makes the pacesetter create lower hp/tq numbers than the hotshot and others?

While the results are helpful for public consumption, its been two years since the comparison in SCC. Haven't the Hotshot and Stillen headers gone through a design change since Dec 99? AEBS???? who the heck are they? Who sells that??

Cause it is a knockoff. Like a cubic zirconia or gold plated jewlery.

BTW, I have the Stillen 4-2-1 Second Genration. It is a lot smaller than the HS header. It is the same pipe diameter as their newer 4-1 header (by visual inspection). Has anyone ever dynoed that header. I have but it was with other mods.

Cause its $130 bucks!!! :D

Question: Are 4-1 headers designed for topend HP amd the 4-2-1- designed for mid power?

hey figgy this is what the mag. says

"Four into one headers typically have great top end power power but sacrifice low end."

"Tri-y headers tent to sacrifice peak power for a broader powerband."

I used a good ol' Tiger Patch and Muffler repair kit as a temporary fix. Then I picked up the PACE.

straight from se-r.net:

AEBS
This header distributed by Group 5 is a beautifully made full race 4-1 design. It is made of thick wall, ceramic coated steel with nice welds. The AEBS header features a merged collector which is a very nice, powerband-widening feature. The AEBS header produces the widest powerband of all SR20 headers and nearly as much peak hp as the power king, the Hotshot. It has produced as much as 12 wheel hp on some cars. This is surprising as 4-1 designs usually favor the top end of the powerband. In my opinion the AEBS or the Hotshot are the best headers for the SR20 currently on the market. Unfortunately the AEBS has a few minor quirks. It is one piece and more difficult to install unless you have access to a lift and it is lacking any provisions for the EGR system. There are no instructions on how to disable the EGR with the header either so many buyers of this header suffer from driveabilty problems. This is because the disconnected EGR system sucks air making the car run too lean at part throttle. It is very simple to disable the EGR so Group 5 should add the instructions to the header. If you own an ABES header simply disconnect the vacuum line to the top of the EGR valve and plug it.

what are you asking what header has better peak and average 4-1 or 4-2-1 or do you want both peak and average from the header test ?

I want to buy a pace setter, but I don't want to feel like I could have gotten more for my money. what kind of design is the pace setter? is the ceramic coated version any good?

oh, and i know everyone has been having problems w/ hotshot headers leaking and making a "ringing" noise. for 450 bones, it shouldn't make any noise at all. i'll have the dealer put on the header, that way if it makes noise i can complain. :)
