: Cincinnati DET owners I need your help
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 03:35 PM Would anyone who has a good background with DET's want to come and help me get my shit running?! It's an Avenir swap in a p10 my brother and I are stumped. I'm getting a Code 21 and we can't figure out what the hell is going on. Monetary compensation will be given to whomever helps out.
Rittmeister 03-05-2005, 04:48 PM 21 is Ignition, though I don't know exactly what that might mean. Plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor all good? Distributor and CAS as well?
I just checked my FSM and it says to check the harness connections and the power transistor - did you make sure to plug that back in?
Where in Cincy are you?
TUNED200 03-05-2005, 05:12 PM Is the car in cincy or c bus? Have you tried Nick, he can get anything to run. Also, what distibtor are you using, and is it plugged in?
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 05:15 PM I'm at my brother's house in Cincinnati. It's on the corner of Montgomery and Symmes (still in Montgomery) by the 275 and 71 intersection. I am using my DE distributor that worked perfectly fine when it was in the car.
TUNED200 03-05-2005, 05:20 PM There are two plugs if I remember correctly that will plug into the distributor and one goes to the reverse lights and one to the dist. I BET you have them mixxed up, I say Mauibluegride and alex and I spend alot of time and then noticed the reverse lights are on. Try that, and If Im right, you owe me a Beer or pepsi ;)

awesome! thanks man... i will try that out!
TUNED200 03-05-2005, 05:37 PM No problem , thats why i still hang out here, im like that guy who just wont go away...
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 05:50 PM haha I know what you mean, I'm the same way with ohiohondas... don't even own a honda anymore.
But I'll be heading over to my brothers in an hour or so to test it out. If it works stop by tomorrow if you've got nothin' else to do. We'll be welding up the exhaust and routing the lines for my boost and egt gauges. Should be done after that.
Rittmeister 03-05-2005, 06:03 PM Shoot me a PM with what times you're working tomorrow, and a phone number that I can reach you at. I might be able to come over for a bit, but I can't promise.
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 07:01 PM Well that wasn't the fix :( we did find out we have spark... but are still getting the code 21. We are now looking into the fuel lines just to make sure. Also we won't be able to swap distributors over until tomorrow if that is the problem because his girlfriend won't be home with the '93 g20 until late tonight.
///M5 03-05-2005, 08:33 PM you didn't blow any fuses or relays did you i would check all those..... make sure all the relays are clicking i might something stupid like that
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 08:43 PM We actually got it running at 7:30 tonight. It turned out to be a crimped FPR and the hoses were backwards (good thing the FPR was crimped I guess) But she moved under her own power for the first time since 2 weeks.
Rittmeister 03-05-2005, 10:50 PM Congrats! I'd really like to see it sometime; how often are you in Cincy?
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 11:18 PM tomorrow we will be working on it from noon to whenever... probably late afternoon. I'll pm you directions if you wanna drop on by... what side of town are you on?
Rittmeister 03-05-2005, 11:46 PM I'm on the west side, about as far as I can get from you and still be in Cincy. Directions from 71N would be best. I'd be coming in the morning, by 11:00 or so, if I'm able, but it's really up in the air.
Sco0terzsl 03-05-2005, 11:53 PM aight, shoot me a pm if you decide to stop by. I'm usually up by 10:30ish or so.
Sco0terzsl 03-08-2005, 12:50 PM Well guy's I need help... We can't figure this damned thing out. We've got the vaccum lines running correctly... it won't start. I need to see if I can use one of your guy's MAF's or SOMETHING. If I don't get this thing running by thursday I think I'm gonna swap the old motor back in and sell this thing off.
Rittmeister 03-08-2005, 03:39 PM I thought you got it started by switching fuel lines. What happened?
Sco0terzsl 03-08-2005, 03:44 PM it starts... but idles like shit. I think I have the vaccum lines 100% correct because I looked at my bro's g/f's car and also the diagram of the vaccum lines off fromt he Avenir. But it still will not idle... it's pig rich I believe because we were using the G20 ECU with my brother's 94 G20 MAF (which I was told is the same as an avenir) and above 3k or so the car ran like a dream... built boost to 8.5psi and hauled ass... but as soon as it was below that it was pig rich again. With black smoke poofin' out. Then last night I switched the temp sensor back to the JDM sensor that came and soldered the connector in and I was using the JDM ECU with the same maf, same everything and the car ran like shit. and wouldn't go past 3k. So I think i either have a bad because it won't throw any codes, while my g20 ecu still throws code 21, but runs fine. That or it's the wrong MAF sensor. I used the 94 De sensor because like I said I was under the impression that they were the same and since the JDM MAF wouldn't plug into the USDM Harness and I didn't receive the connector and pigtails for the JDM Sensor that I got with the motor I have to run this one.
Rittmeister 03-08-2005, 04:35 PM It almost sounds like the injectors are leaking, or aren't seated properly. You might want to check them.
