Hi,
I've started hearing a whining sound coming from the engine of my B13 SE-R. The sound increases with RPM and it sounds like it's coming from the right side of the engine. For these reasons, I think it might be the waterpump bearings.
Any ideas?

hmm.. its cold out.. i'd think one of the pumps having some resistance :)
usually when the temps drop this low the water pump makes some noise until the engine gets to operating temprature..
is it still happening after its been warmed up?

Alternator is most likely, followed by water pump. You can find out easily by using a big screwdriver or pry bar with the suspect piece on one end and your ear on the other.

I've also found nissan power steering pumps to be quite noisy, replaced 3 in the last year 2 ga16s and one ka24.

i had this problem before. mine was the alternator. replace the alternator's bearings (they're cheap), it's got 2, one front (pulley side) and one back bearing. usually it's the bearing on the back that makes the whuuur sound.
