Well, I followed Ian's (Pretty White) instructions and am pleased with the result. I painted the stillen front lip, it came out so well, I did a quick sand on the bumper and re-did it, too.

Enjoy!

Thanks, guys!

Yes it is rattle can. I sanded it, used adhesion promoter, primed, sanded, used prep all, sprayed 3 coats w/ 20 mins dry time between, then cleared 2 coats. It's a full days work, but not bad for ~$20. I was hoping I could give a glimmer of hope to some out there who think they can't afford to get their body pieces/kits painted.

I also did the headlights and corners black. Put the AD22's w/ Carbotech P+ pads, still have an extensive check list to go to get ready for the convention.

I am glad the tips work. How is the Plasticote? I want another color of white because it is hard to find Duplicolor that is exact in my white. My cousin used bright white when he painted my car and that exact shade is hard. I get damn close though.
I also tell people that Duplicolor wheel coating is great stuff when done right.

I tried for the Duplicolor first, but AutoZone only had one can, I bought it. I headed to Pep Boys and they had the Plasticote. I bought three cans. The Plasticote was actually a closer match. I sprayed a sample of each and compared it to the car to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. There is a slight color difference, but I attribute it to the age of the original paint. It's very hard to tell though.

There is also a little bit of orange peel, it was getting cool and I think that affected the final finish. I'll let it cure for a few days, then I'll hit it with some 1500, then 2000 grit and polish it up.

As for the wheel question, I would follow the same steps to ensure a nice, durable finish. To clean up the lip, us a file, dremel, or DA (Dual Action) Sander.

You got all this stuff at a autoparts store? I really need to pull my back bumper off and do the same thing, especially for ~ $20. I wonder if they carry the Vail White color;).

Peace,
Mark

Yessir, I actually got everything I needed from Auto Zone with the exception of the paint. They do make Vail white, I helped Lionel Stackhouse with his front bumper and Tsuru kit last year.

damn, I wish my paint and headlights looked that shiny.

I had to wet sand my headlight lenses and then I polished them with Blue Magic metal polish. They are alot better, but still not perfect.
