Anybody have any suggestions on how the T-Top roff could be stiffened?

Just some thoughts:

1) go to a wrecking yard, cut roof off NX1600, graft onto NX2K;
2) remove glass from steel tri-section of T-Top, weld section into space between A-pillar and B-pillar, somehow, reinstall glass - or sheet in hole left where glass was;
3) complete step #2 - and - install 6pt roll cage with tie points to A-pillar, B-pillar and tri-section - go really crazy and make it 8pt by going through firewall with braced members to strut towers.

I hate the T-Top. :mad:

1.) Remove the head liner...see the metal of the roof?
2.) Get some large swinging nuts
3.) Cut a long section out...maybe 2 1/2" or so wide, but the length of the roof.
4.) Cut a bar of steel the length of the roof.
5.) weld that bitch in.
note: only weld an inch at a time to prevent warping of the metal.
6.) weld the section you cut out back, and reinstal the headliner
good luck man......OH bY THE WAY......DO NOT HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SCREW UP!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I was hoping to come up with an idea that I could go to Mike Saiki with.:(

How about running a tie bar behind the front seats? They make them for other cars and attach to seat belt anchor bolts.

You're right. In fact I've seen one like that on a 240SX.
I think that would help.

Anyone else?

im glad you brought this up. i had an idea for this a while ago.
what about an x-pattern brace that goes right above our heads..about flush with the headliner. one bar going from the passenger side a-pillar to the driver b-pillar and a bar from the drivers side a-pillar to the passenger b-pillar. if the bar was made well enough, and was just thick enough (say about the same size as the rear STB) then it may prevent some flex. it may have to be boxed in...but the only thing that would be needed to watch for is making sure that you can still open the t-top.

as for a rear harness/stiffinig bar, i have seen those. they have them for the porsche 924/44/44T's. again, this would be a good idea BUT it should be made to work with the autopower bar; the cross bar should bolt directly to the rear b-pillars, around the back middle of the seats or lower, so the autopower rear roll bar would fit over if - if possible. im pretty sure that the autopower bar has the option of a cross bar, but this might be better. i just wouldn't want to buy this new bar, and then now have it work around the autopower bar..and vice-a versa for the people that have autopower bars now. hey, it might even fit the classic :-)
