ok...I have a kid who is gonna sell me an Sr20de motor supposedly w/ cams port and polish, and stage 3 clutch. He doesn't seem knowledgable on the car at all. He said he bought it and he was gonna work it but he just started a landscaping buisness so he couldn't He's basically selling me the car just for the motor. So...idk. I'm still a newbie, but what's the easiest way to determine #1...if it's an sr20de motor. And number 2 if it has cams and cam gears (would I have to pull off the valve cover, and if yea what am I looking for on the cam that weould be easily recognizable? Thanks. Hope you can help and if it really is an sr20 I may have my swap sooner than I bargined for. Thanks again.

it's an SR20. As you can see, the spark plug wires have a deeper "canyon" (or so I like to call) area to sit it. Also, there will be a bolt/nut in the center of the valve cover.

As for the cams/cam gears, this is a picture of the cam gears he should've put on.

If he put these on, then more than likely it has cams. It's a waste of money/time to put them on a stock cam. And yes, you will have to take the VC off the verify it has these items.

exactly how much is this kid selling this car for?? and as for sr20 motor, just look at cardomain.com. you should get plenty of pictures there by doing a search for 91-94 sentra ser, or 95+ 200sx SER.. even if you never seen a sr20 motor before, once you see the motor, you should be able to tell.

let some one from your area who knows/owns a sr20de to inspect and drive the car. they will know instantly if it has cams or not.

its easy it says SR20 on the block, close to where it connects to the trans.
just like the Honda blocks.

depends on the kid, im 18, i know people my age who have port/polish jobs done. I would probably have it done, but im not going for anything that requires it.

but from the sound of this guy, i dont think he would, it doesnt even sound like he knows anything about cars.
