: FWD SR20 Auto tranny+ big HP SR20?
psi999 03-28-2005, 11:41 PM Has anyone ever, or heard of anyone ever using a Automatic transmission with a big hp SR20?.... say up to 500atw HP?
I'd imagine you'd have to replace the clutches and up the pressures (and a big stall/converter), but just curious if anyone has ever perused this path?
Is the SR20 auto electronic, as in the ECU controls the gear changes?
What is the model number of the box?.... is the brains/internals used with any other FWD Nissan motors?
Looking at a few options for mine, a mate has a 10 sec evo motor Mitsubishi FWD using an auto.
budsang1 03-29-2005, 12:34 AM I'm going that route with my auto, not 500 hp but I'm planning on a gt28rs. I'm currently saving for a bunch of level ten crap. I plan on doing all the tranny work the first week of august, that's my next vacation. So I'll be looking for some help ya'll.
psi999 03-29-2005, 12:43 AM What is this level 10 stuff you talk of?
Is there anything else you can tell me about the box? (ive got a few questions above ^^)
spdracerUT 03-29-2005, 12:54 AM Level 10 is a company here in the US that beefs up auto trannies to handle more power.

psi999 03-29-2005, 01:18 AM Cheers for that, pity they don't list any HP (or more importantly Torque figures for their boxes).
i'm sure i could get something done locally, but would buy overseas if they could guarantee it would take the torque/HP for a decent amount of time.
MarkSR20 03-30-2005, 09:36 PM We should have some numbers shortly on a Automatic Turbo se-r. Definitly a different ride, traction is still an issue but it is definitly better than a 5 speed in my opinion.
budsang1 03-30-2005, 10:32 PM I've talked with level ten on several occasions, they told me hp numbers and it was somewhere around 450whp that there trans could handle. They told me you need to get the performance transmission kit, hydrosystem and torque converter. For my b14 that comes to around $1600. That is doing all the work yourself. If you send your tranny to them and have them put in the labor the 1600 raises by several thousand.

Mark you must be talking about my car! :biggthump
Aero Deck 04-10-2005, 10:04 AM I am interesed to know how much power the stock SR auto tranny can hold. Maybe the BB auto tranny would be better, or is that AWD?
budsang1 04-10-2005, 11:46 AM ^^^^
I've been told the stock auto tranny will hold a bit more than 200 hp before being torn apart.
There's a member who has a level 10 built tranny

where in central ill are you? and if the level ten trans can take 450 thats awesome. i did a 5 speed swap because i thought it had more potential, now im scared to beat on it.

I'm in Jacksonville right now going to school, it's about 30 min west of springfield. Where I'm origionally from, monmouth, is only about 45 min from peoria, 30 if you're speeding :D . On another note, I'll be doing my level ten work the first week in august, back home. It needs to be done in one week, since it's my daily driver. I could use some help if you will be free. Honestly the task frightens me, but I'll never learn unless I dive in head first.
Aero Deck 04-10-2005, 01:31 PM Id like to hear from someone who has a DET motor attached to a stock auto trans. I would be happy if can hold around 250hp. My next ride might be a P10, with leather, auto, power everything, and a DET swap. Just a nice car with a touch of luxury and around 200-220 whp.
