what do you think guys, which one would you rather have in overall looks and performance??

AEM. Don't cheap out. It's dyno proven. The build quality on the Place Racing CAI leaves something to be desired. The Hotshot CAI is built a lil bit better.

I've had both intakes, and I must say the Hotshot was a much better fit. Looks are subjective, and performance differences between the two intakes are very negligible at best. You'll be happy with either one.

Hotshot, because thats the one I have.;)
In all seriousness, they are both pretty much the same.

i disagree, i've had a PR CAI on my NX, and a HS CAI on my B14, and the quality of the HS is unparalleled, well, except by AEM. but dayum that AEM is expensive! I haven't even seen pics of it..

My friend has a PR on his SE-R and I haven't heard any complaints. I have heard the hotshot build quality is higher thant the PR's. The only reason I went with the hotshot is because I got it through a group deal.

Same here, if i go w/ this group deal it'll be cheaper for the HS than the PR even still at discount too.

I would go AEM but where am i gonna get one for under 200 dollars? And i don't consider it cheaping out, it's just more money for the se-rious mods later!

I went with the HS ceramic coated CAI for salt resistance. I don't know if that's a concern for you. I've heard PRs can be rust prone inside.

HS all the way baby. gotta keep the company in business. they are always striving to improve their product. give 'em some time and i'm sure they'll have AEM-like dyno #'s.

okay, mr. $$ bags. :D cough up the dough and i'll stick a AEM on MY car and do a dyno run. aren't the dyno #'s from AEM, not an independent source?

I have had both on my car, and the HS fits much better. I have the POP version, and the filter barely fit with the PR.

Just wondering how can hp differ significantly between the units? ive seen an AEM and i agree that they are a quality peice, but how can a similar unit be that much worse for HP gains?
Just a question for you guys, can a CAI be converted to a short ram easily, or do you have to do the JWT pop charger mod type thing to fit one in?

the CAI can be converted to short ram easily within 10-15 minutes, just remove the cold air piece, and PR makes one for maximas that's what i had on mine.
