Who else has had problems with act clutches. I installed the extreme PP with street disc. I cant get the clutch to engauge without preloading it. (i.e. the throw out bearing is riding on the clutch plate all the time) I have tried everything, moving the cable brace, new cable, every adjustment possible, i give up. I talked to Chris from sr20deve. and he said the the JWT PP and matched disc should hold up to 400hp, i am going to try that. Any other suggestions?

Mr. Doe:
I have the ACT Heavy Duty pressure plate. Preloading it is normal. You got to get that bad boy started or you'll never get it off the disk with just the pedal.
Cheers,
Charlie :)

Preloading is NOT normal! I just installed an ACT HD pressure plate and that would have NEVER been acceptable. Your throwout bearing will not survive being used 100% of the time. I have worked on TONS of cars over the years and not ONE clutch ever had a preloaded throwout bearing. Heck some service guides specifically tell you not to keep your foot on the clutch pedal while cruising because you'll prematurely wear it out, and that is only SOME of the time. Imagine 100%.

My clutch pedal engages the ACT clutch EXACTLY where the stock clutch did.

Yup, my clutch starts engaging maybe 35% down from the top of the pedal. I have an ACT heavy duty pressur eplate, and the cluthc pedal is already hard, i cant imagine how hard the extreme must be!
