: turbo DE scares V8's
DannySE99 01-06-2002, 09:41 PM Sup guys!!! Just wanted to say how good it feels to dominate V8 muscle cars now that I went turbo. All the credit goes to Andreas Miko, thanks buddy. I had the car for about a week now and I raced a few cars. Two BMW's which I dominated(Z-3 M-series, older body style M3), Audi A6 4.2L(V-8 300hp), Z28, firebird V-8, and two cobra's. Most of these car did not want to race anymore when they saw how bad I pulled on them. I did lose to one and that was one of the mustang cobra's which was the new body style with exhaust system. I know out of the factory they come with 320hp with 317ft-lbs of torque so I figure with the exhaust system he is up to 330-335hp. He barely pulled on me with my car at minimal boost levels(6psi). That was one of my first races. The other cobra was the older body style that comes with 305hp. He was not as fortunate, I was crusin' around at 10psi. We started at 40mph and I let him jump in front of me a car and just in second gear alone I made up that car lenght and after that he did not want to race anymore. I just wanted to share some of my stories with you guys. I'm sure some of you guys can relate to this but I notice that sometimes I'm so much faster then a specific car that I catch myself asking" I wonder if he was really trying". Thanks again Drester(Miko's Theory).
Saaby 01-07-2002, 12:26 PM So all the cars that you mentioned first were beaten at 6-7 psi? (Two BMW's which I dominated(Z-3 M-series, older body style M3), Audi A6 4.2L(V-8 300hp), Z28, firebird V-8, and two cobra's)...if so, that is awsome that you beat a frickin' z28 with ONLY 6-7 psi of boost! Also, do you think you could have beaten that other cobra with 10 psi?
How much HP do you think you are making at 6-7 psi...do you have any other HP adder mods such as cams/pulleys/exhaust/etc...?
kjopi -sleeper- 01-07-2002, 05:16 PM mine just walks away from vettes (93 sytle) at 10 lbs.
>:^D
SmoothDaddyFig 01-07-2002, 08:05 PM I am jealous as %^&@ !!!!

Well the only cars that I raced at 6.5psi was the older body style M3 and that Cobra with the flowmasters. All the rest were at 9.5psi. I do think I would of beaten the cobra at 10psi, not a whip but I would have pulled on him. I have Jwt computer ofcourse,Jwt motormounts, Aluminum flywheel, stage 3 clutch,4mm over bore on the MAF,Jwt S3 cams, and 3" exhaust, no cat.
SERracer01 01-07-2002, 10:09 PM Good kills. Now i know where I'm going to be at when i get done....ordering parts still.
MarkSR20 01-08-2002, 08:31 PM what kind of turbo stuff do you have??? I didnt see it in your previous threads but it sounds like your feeling good about your setup. Good luck with it.

Sup Mark, I have a T3/TO4E turbo with f-max manifold and half of the down pipe. HKS innercooler, Tial wastegate,Greddy BOV, 370cc injectors, JWT ECU, no water-injection, custom 3" exhaust mandrel bend and custom innercooler piping. Andreas Miko built the whole kit for me and car feels pretty damn fast. Anyways, hopefully soon I get my digital camera so I can post some pics of it. I need to update my signature because it's still has my normally aspirated mods on there:) .
MarkSR20 01-09-2002, 11:08 AM Very nice setup. I heard a lot about those southern florida guys building up bad ass se-r's and se's. good luck with your setup. Keep beating those V8's because that feeling goes through all of us when we hear that you do that. I feel good hearing that because there are some people up north here in the summer that think V8's are the only fast things on the streets. Keep proving them wrong!!!! Be safe and have fun man.
Andreas Miko 01-10-2002, 06:01 PM I willl be taking this car on Saturday to get it dynoed at 10 PSI
92SE-R 01-10-2002, 08:18 PM 370CC seems slightly small for a turbo that size. Is it still stock MAF too? At 10 lbs woulnd't you be maxing these out?

Andreas Miko 01-10-2002, 08:26 PM Trade secrets, I now have the car running at 12 PSI. Thats right with 370cc inj and bored MAF. What I did if I tell you I will have to KILL you. Kids don't try this at home it might cost you a new engine.
92SE-R 01-10-2002, 09:18 PM Grrrr.......well you don't have to tell me Andreas, you just have to find me a spare T25. :D

FastNX 01-11-2002, 04:50 PM This sucks. I was in my local performance shop picking up my GReddy exhaust, and the guy offerd me the hotshot turbo kit at COST! I thought about it and said no, what an idiot I am. reading all these posts makes me drool. Just to clear up a few of my self made 'justifications' How is the fuel economy with DET? DE turbo? break many parts? nightmare install?
thanks

Damn. I am itching to know :)
speculation: The ECU is seeing 10 lbs. worth of air when there is actually 12 lbs. coming in. The A/F ratio is going to lean out. To compensate, the fuel must be increased...but the 370cc injectors are at their limit and besides that, the ecu would not be compensating since it only sees 10 lbs. The only thing I can think of is using higher octane fuel.

Well since Dre is the man I just let him work his magic without asking too many questions. One thing I can say is we are not using race gas, just normal 93 octane that you can get at your local gas station. Well I'm outta here now because we are headed out to take this car to the dyno so I'll talk to you guys later. Peace.
92SE-R 01-12-2002, 02:18 PM I'm thinking the bored out MAF is able to read more air AND in conjunction with a 4 bar 370CC program, it could work. Or I could have monkey shit flying out of my mouth. Email me Andreas if this is possible.

Cjburn 01-12-2002, 02:23 PM You can increase flow on injectors by just raising the fuel pressure. That's probably how it's getting done.
Andreas Miko 01-12-2002, 08:04 PM Well here are the Dyno figures for the day.
255.2 HP at 6,400 RPMS and 223.4 LB FT Torque at 5,500 RPMS. This was done at 9.5 PSI. We were above 250 HP from 6,200 - 7,500 RPMS.
Then at 11.5 PSI we had 270.6 HP at 6,400 RPMS and 231.5 LB FT Torque at 5,500 RPMs. Held above 260 HP from 6,000 - 7,500 RMPs
This was done with 370cc injs, bored MAF, JWT comp, 3 inch exhaust mandrel bent done by me, 2.5 inch down pipe, T3TO4E Turbo stage3 wheel .63 AR turbine comp 50 trim wheel with TO4E housing, Frount mount intercooler with 2.25 inch aluminum intercooler pipe done by me, S3 cams, I used a F-max exhaust manifold and everything else was built by hand by me. I also did all the tuning before I got to the Dyno and with no messing with fuel presure or timing these were the figures I came out with. The temp outside was about 80 degrees. I will try to get the dyno figures put up in the next few days.
The car ran at 9 to 1 - 11 to 1 fuel mixtures. Which is a little rich for a turbo car. The rims and tires on the car are 17 x 7 inch wheels with 215 x 45 x 17 tires which is large, it comes out to a tire size of 24.62 inches. Most of you guys make passes with the stock tires which make more HP with a tire size of 23.44 inches. The passes were made in 4th gear.
Saaby 01-14-2002, 02:00 PM I have the exact same car as DannySE99. How safe would it be to run at 10 psi on the stock maf and 370cc injectors (f-max stage I), without utilizing Andreas Miko's proprietary modifications? Also, how much power can I expect...again, without your proprietary modifications.
