Ok guys, and girls, I just got off the phone with Mike Saiki, and we'll be getting together on coming up with a way to stiffen the T-Top NX.
Our goals will be:

A) Keep the rear seat.

B) Take up as little interior space as possible.

C) Make it affordable.

So what I need to know, is how many of you T-Top owners would be interested?

wha? where would it connect to the chassis?

I would with out a doubt. If he could tie in to the seat belt anchor points it should help alot.Just ordered the rear strut bar will let you people know how it works out. This is the one you place between the towers and tighten.I figure for 68.00 couldn't hurt.

Face it the rear seats are useless anyway, don't you think?

Not just sure yet. Mike Saiki and I will get together and take some measurements.

Not if you have small children.

I am in, and if there is a way I can still get that Rear STB for the NX, I would like ot know that as well.

Thanks,
Tommy

Would this work on a non t-top nx also? If it adds any additional stiffness to any nx that would be great.

Contact Mike Saiki (www.motivational.net) , He may still have some left.

I don't see why it wouldn't.

ALSO, I another option that will work, and it's a DIY mod, is
to use FOAMSEAL (www.foamseal.com/automotive.htm) in the door sills and elsewhere to help stiffen the chassis.

OK, I'll keep you all posted, and I'll let you all know what we come up with, and when MIKE SAIKI (www.motivational.net) is ready to take orders.

will this work around a autopower bar? if it will, then i would want to do it. again, depending on price..

Oh, ok. If you have a roll cage, then I don't think you'll need this.
This is intended to be for the weekend racer type.

see, i disagree. the autopower roll bar connects to the frame, and to the body where the rear speakers go. if i am hearing correctly, this bar that you want mike to make will actually connect b-pillar to b-pillar. its probably not a huge difference, but i still think it would be worth it. as far as i know, autopower has the option of having a bar like you want made that can go inside the cage to hold belts, add to strengthening, Etc. i would just rather use a bar that connects the b-pillars for that, and leave the bar for crush resistance.

on a side note, you might want to be careful using harnesses without a rear roll bar/cage. i was going to get a set of belts from rosen autosport, and joe henderson was showing me that normal seat belts allow your head to move away from the side if the car its closest to in a rollover. harnesses dont do that. they keep the body and head straight up and down, meaning that the side of the car near the door can crush in on you and possibly go into your head. thats one main reason why i havnt got my harnesses yet.

the bar is it going to be down on the floor of the nx like most hondas have it or you guys planing to have it higher up like shoulder height when siting down ? i don't think much will happen if its down low, because most of the twisting is on the top and i don't think a strait bar would do much either it would need some thing to hold it down so it would need some thing like a v brace, but a bar like that would render the back seat totally useless.

but i don't have any experience stiffening a car up so i don't know what i said would be valid

NXen have a uni-body construction. They don't have frames.

We're considering connecting the "B" pillars where the seatbelt botls. But we haven't made a decision yet.

joe henderson was showing me that normal seat belts allow your head to move away from the side if the car its closest to in a rollover. harnesses dont do that.

That's why there are so many head injuries in car accidentsd. Becaus ethe OE seatbelt lets your upper body fling from side to side.

what i meant was that in a roll over, (for the sake of argument, lets say im in the drivers seat) if the roll starts on the drivers side, and the top of the door,a-pillar, and b-pillar get bent into the car- towards my head. the seat belt goes from my left shoulder to my right waist. my head will be able to be pushed to the right, since there is no seatbelt there.
i do agree with your about the head moving around in an accident. i was just talking about a rollover though.

Hey Sub its funny you mentioned the foam seal stuff. I thought of that as well. The stuff is really strong and like you said DIY. The only thing that scares me is if you block a drain hole and the water can't drain YIKES.
I know I mentioned the seat belt anchors and I still think this is a good mounting point.Very high up on the NX.Might have to sacrifice a little headroom when getting in and out of the back seat but it seems the best route.

I spoke to Mike Kojima about the FOAMSEAL. He said he'd help me install it. So I guess I won't have to worry about clogging up a drain hole.
I haven't taken him up on his offer yet. I'm about to replace my clutch and flywheel and struts. So it'll be a while before I get around to ordering enough FOAMSEAL kits to do my car.
But when I do, I'll post on how to do it properly, that you guys will know how to do it right.

OK, I look at this thread and it is dated 2002.
I see it on top of the posts and it says Thomas posted around 7:30 Today. I open the links and what? No new posts. Am I in the twilight zone or what?
