Running the highest octane possible would be a good idea to help resist detonation. If you're going to use a JWT ecu, it'll require at least 91.

spdracer is right. I've been researching my futuer swap several hours a day for some time now and I've seen 92 a lot and the higher the better.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll make sure I get that when I finish my swap.

1BAD_NX, what all are you having done, if you don't mind sharing. I'm planning a swap this spring for my B13 and am putting the numbers together. I'm not sure where I can sharpen my pencil and where I can't. I'm planning for a DET BB, tranny, half shafts, ecu as well as JWT reprogramming, wire harness, SER gauge cluster, boost/vac gauge, STB, NX2000 break upgrade, short throw shifter, underdrive crank pully, preformance clutch, flywheel, CAI. I'm trying to keep the whole thing under $5K and I'm already at $3500 stopping at the boost/vac gauge. I'm confident that I can do a cheap scratch built CAI, maybe find an ECU at a junkyard to send in for reprogramming, maybe find a gauge cluster, scratch build the STB. I need to do the difficult stuff while I have the engine out, like replacing the water pump, putting underdrive pullys on, lightened flywheel, clutch, etc. I can always do exhaust and header later, but I'm not sure if performance intake is going to net me as much bang for my buck over the stock one and that can always be done later. I'm also incurring costs because, (shh don't tell anyone) my B13 is an XE, hence NOT an SE-R, so I don't have an ECU, Halfshafts, Wire harness, all stuff that will cost me almost $600, which could easily pay for a nice flywheel and maybe most of a header, oh and I'm forgetting about alternator, ps pump, or any other things I might not be able to swap from my GA16DE. I'm trying to set priorities. We can discuss it over e-mail if you'd prefer that.

dude for all the stuff you mentioned I think 5k is an under estimation. thats unless if you find every single item on a real good bargain and you do all the dirty job yourself.

Right now my car is undergoing a BB det swap with Jason Young and getting the tranny welded up. (my price will probabyl come near $3500 at the end) But so far my car has gotten AGX adj shocks, Eibach springs, ST f/r sway bars, ES motor mount inserts, Pacesetter quikshifter and maybe some other stuff I can't think of at this moment.

ok, let me try to give you some approximate prices for the items u mentioned. a DET motor will set you back $1600 give or take, tranny $600, JWT ECU $550(plus the junk one you need for core), clutch around $380??, flywheel $550, unorthodox pullies $360?, gauges I don't know, cai you can do a home made one like me for bout $50, Harness??, drive shafts $120, motor mounts?? and lots of other misc. stuff.
These things will put you right above $3000 and this doesn't even include installation prices.
**don't quote me on these prices, they're the best I could come up with.;)
Hope this helps,
Nick
