All right Smooth! I have forgotten how clean the injectors can look when they are new. I don't see a Cruise Control cable, might make it a little hard if ya want to come up for geekout this spring. Naw man just put a brink on the pedal!!!

Two thumbs up

Hey Smoothdaddyfig,
So when did you do the swap?
What happened did you have to buy new injectors?
How was the install?

I must have missed a few posts somewhere cause I don't remember you talking about doing a swap.. I do remember reading that something happened to your old motor.

I see that you got a silver valve cover sr20

I ordered a JDm and got a silver valve cover engine to.
I hear everyone talking about the Gold valve cover but mine is def. silver...or aluminum.

Come on FIG, you have that ghettofied intake, but you wont use zipties for the cruise cable? I'm disappointed in you. :D

Seriously man, you dont need the brackets, I checked into it at the dealer, and they want $36 for one

So far, I'm one of 2 people that have factory cruise on a 91 :D anyone else out there?

I wished I did! My car has the bracket for it but that's all. Say...my XE has cruise. I wonder how hard it would be to swap it out?

Ralph... I think the 1.6 cruise has different parts, but I'm not 100% positive.

Since you have a 91, and I assume all 91s had the same wiring harness, there are a lot of plugs missing for the switches.

When I was ready to do mine, I thought it was just a couple of buttons, the actuator, and thats it...boy was I wrong.

I practically had to build another harness and splice into the existing harness. If it wasnt for John (Nismodriver), I would have not attempted to tackle this project. It took us about 2 days to get it working.

I think for me it was well worth it, since I do a lot of highway driving from school and home (its about a 6.5 hour drive when I do make it).

Good luck to you!

Hey Serban! Hows it going bro?!:D :D :D
Man I really appreciate the info dude!
I'm was like you, I was thinking it would be just a few things! Wow... would I have been wrong! Thanks for saving me the headache. I'll stick with the brick!!! LOL:D ;)

You think you might be down this spring for a geekout in NC? I know its a liitle ways but if you and Smooth could make it, it'd be phat. We could all get stinkin drunk and barf on Hondas!!! :D  ;)

Let me know the date, I know I have spring break in march some time, and I was just gonna drive home, but keep me posted.

And one more thing about the cruise...dont even attempt to do this unless you have the wiring harness book. Its this huge book that folds out, and it shows all the wires and what they go to.

All right Serban! I'll see whats up with the east coast section geekout and let cha know.

Thanks again for the advice slick dawg! Yeah I'd want someone who's done it before, before I'd attempt now. (knowing now what I'd be in for.)

cool cool, let me know bout it. I would help you with the cruise, but I have made an oath to NEVER attempt anything like that again. I'm sure if I think about it a little more, I can tell you all the crap I had to do.

It started on 12-15-01
Finished around the 01-05-02

I paid to get it done. I do not have all the tools needed for the swap. Jay Whitley did the marvelous swap!

What happened did you have to buy new injectors? One JDM injector was broken so I got used ones and Jay polished them up. :)

How was the install?

It went by with a few problems. Axles didnt want to come off and the drain plug for the transmission fluid got stripped by me. :(

I must have missed a few posts somewhere cause I don't remember you talking about doing a swap.. I do remember reading that something happened to your old motor.

I was on my 2nd day with my 91 cam and I was racing this IS300 going 120pmh in 4th gear. Thats ended up being too much for my rod bearings to handle and I went up knocking like a trick or treater. :(

I see that you got a silver valve cover sr20

I ordered a JDm and got a silver valve cover engine to.
I hear everyone talking about the Gold valve cover but mine is def. silver...or aluminum.

Its the right one. I got mine from an automatic Primera. :)
Im definitely sure its got the higher compression. This thing ZOOMS!!!!

I did a helified tune up while the engine was out too.

The swap cost:
$500 labor
$120 extra shit, i.e. vacuum hoses, Carb cleaner, gas, oil.
$130 for tune up stuff,i.e. new seals, Spk. wires, gskets, etc.
--------
$750 + price of engine.

I replaced every seal and gasket. Including front/rear seals, axle seals , valve cover and plug gaskets, both oil pans, new thermostat, new RTV gasket around radiator inlet/outlet, new cap and rotor, new NGK Copper plugs, PCV valve, new plug wires, new clutch cable, newer throttle cable, new exhaust gasket, newer belts ( from old engine ), MT-90 tran fluid, Mobil 5w-30 synthetic oil , and Nissan oil filter and drain plug copper gasket.

I wanted this baby MINT!!!

I love the silver valve cover!!! Nice new attitude about it.

When are you doing your swap? Best extra 10hp I ever had. :D :D

When are you doing your swap?

Well I was planning on doing the swap this month or next, but I got laid off from my other job and of course that changed everything.
I was working on the side building up money for Pulleys, Clutch,PP,Light Flywheel and a new Motor mounts.
Whn I got laid off that pretty much took all the extra money I had saved up, so now I am back to square one with a JDM sitting in my garage
I got one of my old jobs back and I am working lots of overtime so I am gonna start putting money back for the swap. I wanna do it right the 1st time and do anything that needs to be done while the engine is out.

Glad to hear you are happy with your swap:)
