: frontspoiler question
LowDownNX 01-09-2002, 07:01 PM Ok i am going to buy a front spoiler soon. For those of you who have a front spoiler on your NX's out there i am asking you some questions. First off if it is a whole front bump can i easily take off the old on and put the new one on or with it have a to be professionally installed. Second off it it covers the stock bumper how much did it cost you to have it installed or is it possible to do yourself? Thanks alot
RacerX 01-10-2002, 02:29 AM you can just fit it on, its just the lower part called the "air spoiler" .......its not too hard to get it on, makes it easier if you have the front of the car off the ground a bit though......
CBall22 01-10-2002, 07:00 PM If your talking about the stock nx2000 spoiler then it is just a cover. It should mount directly into the same holes inside the front wheelwell as your front bumper. I assume you already have it painted?
LowDownNX 01-11-2002, 12:20 AM No it is a actually frontspoiler, i want to post a pic but i cant remember where to go to upload pics on this forum.
MauiBlueGride 01-11-2002, 06:37 AM To mount the spoiler on your car you'll need a nx2000 front bumper cover also - they are completly different - the car looks nasty when its not installed and there are lots of holes at the bottom of the bumper cover that the spoiler mounts to.
Also - you'll need to drill two holes in your fenders and cut a slot into each side- assuming that they are correct - the auto salvage yards swore to me they were different - I never checked but hey....
Best of luck.

MauiBlueGride 01-11-2002, 06:39 AM Oh and as for easy/hard....
Steps:
Jack car up and remove front wheels
Remove half the black mud gards
there are 3 bolts towards the bottom where the front bumper mounts to the fender
then there is one right where the side marker light is, and finally a bitch of one to get from next to the head lights in side the engine bay.....
Not to fun if I say so - but once you get it off and figure out how the heck its attached putting it back on is easy.

LowDownNX 01-11-2002, 09:29 AM Thank you maui, you are the only one who has made sense to me so far. I am not talking about a NX2000 stock front spoiler, i am talking about the aftermarket car mate front spoiler and I own a NX 1600 so there wont be any holes from where the stock NX 2000 front spoiler would be.
MauiBlueGride 01-11-2002, 09:45 AM Ok - so the aftermarket spoiler I'm guessing the same thing you'll probably need a front bumper cover from a NX2000 so that you'll have the proper mounting areas - I don't think I have any pictures of my car before I mounted the front spoiler - but its a huge difference - basically, right below the headlights the bumper ends - and there is a bracket that mounts under the metal bumper support - also in that area are 8 bolts in the NX2000 bumper cover where the spoiler mounts to - my guess is that you don't have them and will have to in order to mount an aftermarket spoiler. The spoiler wraps around the fenders also - and like I said the fender I believe has a special bend in it for this plus a slot as an alignment hole for the front spoiler and two bolt holes on the side and then two more that bolt where the mud gaurds in the wheel well are......

LowDownNX 01-11-2002, 11:30 AM I think it actually replaces the whole bumper, from the pic i have it looks like it would... check out www.carmate.com.au and look at the first pic for the NX body kits.
LowDownNX 01-11-2002, 11:33 AM actually here is a better pic....

MauiBlueGride 01-11-2002, 12:41 PM Does look like it replaces it all - only thing I can think of is the fenders.
Best of luck

CBall22 01-11-2002, 01:11 PM I did take off my entire front bumper one time to install some piaa fogs. It was a pain in the ass. There are about 20 bolts you need to take out, some of them are really difficult to reach and you'll need an extension for a rachet. I took off the front bumper of an integra once and it only had about 6 bolts. Make sure you have an FSM as this will help a lot. I wouldn't think you would need to drill any extra holes.
Da91NX 01-11-2002, 01:14 PM how much did they quote u for the bumper and shippin. i have been waitin for a response and was just wondering.
