: calipers or rotors?

sometimes when i brake, it doesn't brake for a split second and then i brake harder and it causes my abs to go off.
other times i brake normally.
i *** had new pads put in, but i dont' think that's the source of the problem.
is this a sign of worn out rotors or is it time to rebuild the calipers?
for rotors, how thin is too thin?

TIA

this is off topic, and sorry, it's a dumb question, but HOW do I tell if i have ABS?

stop really hard and you will hear it make a lot of nasty sounding noise and jolting ;)

well to tell if you do you can pop the hood and look over on the passenger side of the engine bay top corner on the fire wall, and look for a rectangular object with a few brake lines running in to it and has a thing that looks like an electric motor on the bottom of it. that is the actuator assembly, or just look in the dash cluster and you will have a light that says ABS on it.
