i was wondering if we could compile how people blew their motors in one thread?? so people not yet (knock on wood... i dont want knock on cylinder) dont have to learn the expensive way :)

driving hard,forgot to check the oil on a long mountain run and spun a bearing.

hit the wrong gear and hit some stupidly high rpm level and snapped 3 rockers

overheated in traffic and i didnt know it til i was almost home. doh! got rod knock a few months later.

started as what i thought was valve tap....or hoped. after a month turned in to a loud knock. took the oil pan off, and number 2 bearing was history...i guess i should not have used 5w30 oil, i think it was too thin, cause all this happened right after the oil change. its all good though, the nx shall be reborn.

ran the BB TMIC (no air ducting) with S4 cams at a track day. Outcome: Detonation that led to a blown headgasket.
