Wondering what boost gauges that yall are running? How much you paid and how you like it. Also im thinking that i'd prefer a gauge that reads in PSI as opposed to Bar. So what cha guys got?

My friend has Autometer Ultralight guages (boost & air/fuel). They measure in PSI and are very nice(silver). I think he paid $90 cdn.

Soopa:
I just bought 3 gauge pod and autometer: vac/boost, air/fuel, oil pressure gauges. That's what Dre had in Danny's car. So that's what I did. Can't remember if he had vac/boost or just boost. I went with vac/boost - it's $1 cheaper ;)

Paid 'round $150 from Summit and $45 from lowtek, wire from Walmart, quick connects (for easy in/out/stealth removal of the pillar) from the rc hobby shop.

UPS brought the vac/boost gauge yesterday. It has a hard nylon tube. Where do I connect the vac/boost gauge? Do I use T fitting for it (Pepboys?). Don't even mention tapping the manifold. After two months of steady buying tools and parts, I'm over it.

Cheers,
Charlie :)

I personaly dont like the Autometers at all. I thought I would go with a gauge that not many people have. I got a full set of Defi Link gauges. They are very good, they are all linked together so there is peak hold, memory set,and one bad ass little unit/box controls them all

personally, I like Greddy 52mm Electronic guages. They are a bit on the more expensive side, but they are hands down some of the best guages I have ever seen.

You can see the different guages offered by Greddy @ www.greddy.com

I was runnin a blue faced Nismo gauge(HKS), but got tired of reading in bar. I recently switched to a Autometer phantom 30 psi gauge to compliment my oil press, water temp, EGT, and monster tach.

Joe -

How long has your car been there? What exactly are you getting done?

-Ron

edit - I noticed that on 12-19-2001 - you mentioned that you would be getting your car back in 2 weeks time? Also, may I ask when you first brought your car to them? I am happy that you are getting the attention you deserve. Guess it pays to be able to visit the shop when you feel like it.

Is that oil pressure electrical or mechanical Zak? It pains me every time I see your car.

It's mechanical. We originally used copper tubing for it, but now that we have to re-do it all, we'll probably used braided steel or something.

Sorry to say, but I think the manifold really is the best place for it if you want to know exactly how much boost your engine is seeing. And if you have a combo vac-boost gauge, the 'vacuum' reading won't be useful at all if you locate it upstream of the TB. I put a brass T fitting between 2 of the intake runners; the recirc valve and boost gauge signals are taken from there. It wasn't hard to do with the manifold off the car. I suppose you could tee the gauge off one of the stock vacuum hoses, but I'd expect delays and spikes as well as interference from whatever other components are attached to the hose. If you ever plan to use the boost signal for something important like boost control I'd say you definitely should run an isolated line straight to the manifold.

well, if you have a low port, there is an empty nipple on the top of the manifold, this is on my 98, previous models may not have it. it is right after the TB, BTW.
