What bits/tap is needed to do the oil return lines on a DE turbo install? Also does anyone know of a link to a very thorough write up on a Turbo install on a DE. ( including pics if possible ) Actually if a thorough write up exist on a GTIR manifold/T28 components install on a DE is out there that would be even better! Thanks Guys!

If you wanna hold off a few weeks or something... a lot of install articles will be going into the magazine that will be very thorough... I dont know how much you want to know... but if you get to this link's archives you'll find a guy from the staff who did a write up on a classic... otherwise you can wait for my write-ups going on a 200sx DE...

You can go to Home D or Lowe's and buy a 1/2 tap.

1st Make sure you drain all your oil and remove the oil pan

2nd Start off by drilling small holes will a power drill. (Keep drilling till you get a snug fit for the 1/2 tap.)

3rd Then start taping the block by hand with you 1/2 tap. Make sure to go in and out so you don't cause all the shavings to enter the block.

That's the way I did I might have missed some steps so if anyone on the list see's this please revise. Thanks

We pulled off both oil pans on my '93 when we drilled/tapped three weeks ago at Ben's Garage Mahal. Ben has stated he'll loan out the drill and tap for the price of shipping and return. Not a bad deal.

IF you only remove the lower oil pan, then you really, really, really should do a thorough job of making sure ALL shavings and shiny bits are out of the engine. It's a tougher job to remove both pans, but worth it.

Of course, if helps if you have guys like Steve Linn, Ben Davis, and some big 'ol fella' from Tennesse who drives an automatic there to help/guide you. Those guys know their stuff.

If I were you? I'd get the drill/tap from Ben, and follow every word he says.

ah get a wild hair up your ass and drive to ben's. start the next geekout...seems thats how most of them start. Hell id probaly start charging Ben, you have been doing it enough.

one thing of confidence....drilling and tapping alum is much much much easier than trying to drill and tap a cast iron block. I would definatly remove both oil pans it will end up saving you time anyway. if you have ever seen the pile of shavinging that comes from this you will want to. I kid you not its about 8 inches in diamater and about 2 inches tall its alot. Then you also have to take out the radiator for more clearance. and atleast one friend to tell you how the angle on the drill is going.
