Can you change the oil pump without removing the head?
I remember reading that you can but I could not find the thread. The FSM says to remove the head, but I just got the entire engine put together.
I am still not getting any oil pressure when I prime the engine..
Please help I need this thing running and broke in before the next track date.

I am going from memory here (FSM not handy) but I seem to remember that you can get to it by taking only the front cover off, and I don't think that requires removing the head. Sorry to be so qualified in my response.

You can do it from the bottom. Just pull the lower pans, crank pully and pass side mount. Take the 3 10mm bolts out of the head that go into the front cover and the bolts out of the front cover to the block. Just did it on Erich's car.

How long did it take you, doing it from the bottom?

I just took my VE pump off my DE motor... Easy as pie...
Unbolt all the 10mm bolts on the front cover, unbolt the lower pan, the metal strainer, and the upper pan. Ubolt the crank pulley and lightly pry the front cover off. Problem solved...took me an hour.

hey guy, are you sure your oil pump is shot?
or is your lower pan just dented and hiting your oil pick up?
