: Which S13 to buy?
SERacer 01-24-2002, 03:19 AM I am thinking of starting a Project S13 w/ a red top SR20DET, probably in the near future. I need to know which year(s) would be the easiest to swap a SR20 into. Also, does it matter if it is an automatic or 5-speed? Thanks.
aztecB13SER 01-24-2002, 03:32 AM hell yeah man, get a 89-90 coupe...5 speed of course, what the hell are you thinking about an auto for? *slap* :)
Fast240-T 01-24-2002, 09:51 AM you would be better off with a 91+ model. The SOHC's RPM Guage won't work with the Sr's wiring (ecu). You would have to swap out to the DOHC's guages anyways.

Well...I found a couple of really cheap 240's but unfortunately they were auto. Just wondering. So the easiest would be a 91+ 5-speed. THanks.
Nismo241 01-27-2002, 06:51 AM I think you should just build a KA24de-t, they have an awsome low end, I love mine, and it is a sohc, I still can't beat my dads SE-R though.
:(
ShawnSE-R 02-05-2002, 01:52 AM so hows oregon loser. I hope you are the same person that moved from Phoenix. Or someone else has all the same vehicles.

Oregon is ok, it kinda sucks, the only thing to do here is work on cars, and the only real car to work on is my friends dads RX7, but that is handful. I think my dad and I are going to be driving down there for the convention, but we'll have to see. What happened to N/A? you went turbo? 12.5, thats a somewhat decent time :P
TX180SX 02-05-2002, 09:50 PM Don't get an 89-90. If you can get an 91 up. it will make the swap easier. Trust me.:D

why would the 91 and up be easier?????????
please explain in detail if u have an answer............
89-93 is the exact same except for sohc and dohc
and the 89-90 is way cheaper

ps reservior
tach
newer car
Now back to your cage monkey.
If you haven't noticed I have a 89 with SR. So I know what I'm talking about.
monkey 02-24-2002, 04:25 AM big deal
the speedo on the 89-90 goes to 120mph the 91+ only goes to 110mph and just get jap tach or aftermarket
ps =junkyard or if you can cap it off and it will still be ok. a little stiffer but still drivable
newer car yes true but look at the price difference
the monkey is loose so watch out
Nismo241 02-24-2002, 03:45 PM Actually it only goes to 115mph. I say go with the 91+ just for the looks, I like the front end on the 91+ much better than the 89-90.

I never said anything about the speedometer. The 89-90 tach will not work with the sr. You will either have to swap to the 91 up, jdm cluster, or tach adapter from msd.
yes ps can be capped but why? junkyard will have what you need but yet another small inconvenience.
Older car will have (usually) much more maintenance involved to get it in a good running condition. Sometimes it's worth it to just get a 91 up.
Feel free to respond monkey.
hybrid240 03-03-2002, 11:22 PM i havent done the swap yet but just from my research, swaping into a 91-up goes alot smoother. if you can do it go with a newer one and the look better too.
Shawn96SER 03-10-2002, 11:37 PM <----matt240DET the power stereing is a problem on the 89's????? lol i had no problem getting that outta the way, i just ripped the fucker off, i can see power steering in mommies minivan but c'mon now..lol j/k
hybrid240 03-11-2002, 03:41 AM most of the thing i have read says you can keep your power steering you just have to rigg it up alittle with the lines., as with the radiator, ecu, etc. thing are a little backward since it is a passengerside drivin car:D ! but it is nothing you cant make work. and if can wait about 3 months, ill let you know how it goes! :D
