I have the same problem on my 1991 Sentra SE-R and looked under the driver rear tire and spotted the hose seralex talked about. I seen a very small gas leak so for now I have it parked and using my other car till Jay is finished with his current job so he can look at it.

seralex, how much will it cost to replace the hose and other hoses as you suggested? Is it a PIA to replace the hoses?

Hello all,

Turned out to be the fuel filler assembly, there is a main tube to fill the tank and a vent tube...the main tube had a small hole in it that was venting the fumes....

Part was about 50, and a few hours to install....

I will check the other areas as well when I have the time...

Thank you again!!!!!!

about fuel leaks and hoses, you can go to your local parts store and just buy bulk fuel hose, just inspect all your hoses first, their very easy to replace look under vehicle to the hoses *** lead to tank i allways noticed the smaller hoses to go first. while you turn ignition on car off pull on those hoses to make sure their secure. the hoses above fuel tank under seat, the 2 hoses before and after fuel filter, this may be also a good time to replace these small hoses with steel braided hoses. here in l.a i pay about 3 buks a foot but if you just **** replace these on a budget you should be able to do all these hoses for under 15 to 20 dollars, if you guys want any more info or help let me know i may an even cheaper short cut.

seralex,

I plan on keeping the car for awhile and interested in your suggestion on replacing the fuel lines from the tank with steel braided lines. At 3 dollars a foot, do you know how much I would need to replace all the lines with steel braided lines?

$3.00 a foot? I was quoted $8.00 a foot from SK Speed for Steel Braided fuel lines. Be sure you get high pressure hoses for fuel injection and not carburation like I did a few years ago. Boy did those crack to hell. My smell was actually between #4 and the fuel pressure regulator.
