: I Hate My ABS

For anyone who has the B13 SE-R, you know what I mean. I hate having to work in that area, space is soooo damned tight and forget about really being able to see anything(all right, yes, I need bifocals but I'm effing not going to get them).

For the 3rd time, I'm pulling my AAC, FICD and IACV. Mine is not working properly and I finally broke down and bought another. Impossible to get your car in timing mode when the above parts are not working right... means not correctly being able to adjust your idle or even read it.

I have no clue how I was able to accomplish this last time. I remember skinning the crap out of my fingers and wrist... and that was w/o moving the abs actuator out of the way. This time, I unbolted the abs and shoved it a couple of inches to the side. Now, of course, the power steering and a/c hoses are still the frig in the way. There's actually room to work once you get your hand down there, but getting it down there with a socket wrench....

Heck, I'm even working in an enclosed 2 car garage, unlike the last 2 times. Somehow, I'm going to accomplish this, and, of course, skin the crap out of my hand.

Just wanted to vent... farking abs crap, a/c and power steering hoses! Seriously, FARK FARK FARK FARK FARK!

Peace,
Mark

Dude, do lkike I just did. Pull the ABS motor, proportioning valve, MC and extra lines out and replace with non-abs ones. There is simply two lines, a small dist. block and that is it on the firewall. Opens upt he WHOLE rear of the engine bay.

I really don't think I would own a B13-B14 ABS car. It would piss me off just to change my oil every time. I feel for ya Mark.

I know, I know... I've been told to do this before. But... before I start permenantly removing things, I've got to use the time and money to finish some others. Eventually, I will get to it.

Got a write up on it;)? My notebook is full of stuff I've done via write ups, and I'm only about half way through... I like pictures.

I've been trying to get my wife to stick her itsy bitsy hand into some of those dark, hard for me to reach places. She always says no... I think she's got the wrong idea;).

Peace,
Mark

I don't know about on ABS cars but on my NX2K I can remove the AAC/IACV/FICD in about 15-20 minutes. I get a ratcheting wrench, snake it in behind the strut tower and get on the bolts from there - makes it super easy to get out.

Well, wish me luck. Been mowing and edging the yard since 8 am... now it's time to work on the car.

I've seen the engine bay of the nx's. Even with ABS, there is a crap load more room than in the SE-R bay. If the nx had a slighty bigger back seat, I'd dump my car in a minute. 3 car seats to fit in the back of my car... ask me how I know;). It's not comfortable, but in an emergency, they fit.

I think I'll drink a beer before I scrape the crap out of my hand... it'll still hurt, just won't care.

Peace,
Mark

P.S. God, I hope this new iacv works
