: TPS, and high idle

On the way to geek-out today... two blocks before I got there in fact. My ilde settled to like 1700 rpm. So I goosed it back down, whatever right? It did this ocasionally ever since I put in the cai, and also after sitting in brooklyn light to light traffic like today.

It kept doing it. I got pretty white (thanks again)to help/show me how to do the tps. We managed to get it into spec, but then it idled at like 2k, and couldn't be coaxed lower. I left my timing light at home, and didn't want to just dial down the idle, so I left it.

Later at home I reset everything, but I had to go through a whole shuck and jive of sensor tuning, etc to get it better. Any idea why the high idle? When I came home tonight it's down at like 750 low, and stumbles, usually i keep it just over 900.

Sorry for the long post, but I figured this forum could use one. You should have seen all the classics at the meet. Only like 3 200 ser's

btw I just did an oil change (43k) with oem filter mobil-1 5w-30, cleaned tb last week. timing set at 17*

I'm interested in what the experienced peeps have to say about this as well. I'm having almost the same problem as you Bennitto. I'm in the virge of giving up because everytime I adjust the base idle, the high idle and stumbling come back after a long drive:confused:

Good luck.

Ok, then all you have to do is set the TPS. You have to loosen the 2 screws and move it SLOWLY because it's very sensative. Once you do this, you have to do the whole Idle procedure. Good luck.

P.S

Make sure you're using a digital volitmeter when setting the TPS.
