VE uses 65F00, same as all the new nissans.

they do not, they are just a little longer, but the threads and seat are the same size.

I figured theyd be the same....

Highports dont need the built in check valve, its built into the oil filter spout, at least the ones ive seen. Lowports need the check valve in the filter since its not built in.

The "cone" is inverted on the low port filters.

Uh... so would it cause oil starvation on startup if a highport filter was used in a lowport motor. I mean, is that why the red oil pressure light comes on for a second or two at startup?

No, a highport filter on a lowport gives you 0 pressure after it blows off. The 2 filters are different, and can't be used on both motors. The low port filter is shorter than the high port filter. I would double check the part number before you drive the car again.

Thats a weird way of saying that if you have the wrong filter the filter will unscrew and you will blow the engine.

I've the same startup issue once I changed to a WIX filter. (highport, not to mention)

Err.. I liked WIX filters too!. Maybe I should change back? Any advice? The engine oil light comes off after half a second of startup.

I would also like to point out something that everyone should do after changing oil...

1. Disconnect your coil.
2. Turn the key and let the car crank over and over until you see the oil light turn off.
3. Reconnect coil. Go for a drive knowing you primed your engine and got everything good and oily.

But, why does the oil light turn on for the half-second or so during startup :)

Try a regular start after changing your oil, see how much longer it stays on for us. ;)

But, now I'll start priming the motor, lol. I change the oil pretty quickly, (maybe 10 minutes max?), so usually its not all 100% drained by then (but good enough for me).

Haven't had a problem just yet.

I don't think it's a major issue, but one of those little details that might be the difference between another 200,000 miles and another 75,000. :)

I would also like to point out that after I ASSumed the
'95 G20 lowport used the 'lowport' filter, I found that
it didn't by blowing about 3.5 quarts of Mobil 1 all over
my driveway. It turns out, that it also uses the 53J filter.
