My friend's alternator went on his NX2000 and we were trying to get it out to replace it. We got it all unbolted an loose, but can't seem to get it out since it's blocked by all kinds of shit like hoses and stuff. Anyone know how to get it out without taking out the engine? Thanks

Im pretty sure you need to take out the radiator, I tried to do mine, and after about half an hour, i said screw it and took it in, that was soooo much easier!!!!:D

Yeah, we might end up doing that. I heard we might need to get the ac compressor off first.
did you try to remove the altinator brackit with it ? i have never takin mine off but im sure its a bitch to do.

This applies to my '93 SE-R, so I imagine that a NX2K isn't THAT much different.....
-Leave the radiator in. You can do it (just b-a-r-e-l-y) like that. Drain the radiator and remove the upper hose and the neck that goes into the cylinder head. Now's a good time to do a flush and fill, by the way.
-Remove the alternator bracket. You'll have to loosen up the adjustment bolt (the very long one that tightens up the alternator to the belt).
-Disconnect the wires that go into the alternator.
-Look for a long-ass bolt on the bottom of the alternator. That's the one to get out. It is way long, and will take some time. 14mm bolt, IIRC.
-Gently use a pry bar or crow bar to wiggle the alternator 'up' towards where you are. This may take some time to do. Be patient. 'Walk' it out slowly. If you pry too hard, you could break the mount that the big bolt goes into.
This is all just from memory, but I don't think I've left anything out. Hope it helps. Take your time, be patient. Once you do it the first time, you'll be able to do it much more quickly in the future.

Thanks a lot man, we got out that long ass bolt and the radiator hose. I guess we'll try taking out the bracket and finagling it out of there. Here goes nothing...
