Does anyone know anything about the Protech Engineering Manifold? Is it a good manifold? How much does it cost? Is it reliable? Does Protech have a website or phone number? And finally, which turbo will fit on it?

The only person that I know of that has the Protech manifold is Tony Q. here in AZ. His car isn't running yet, so your questions will likely not be answered. The manifold will be put to the test once Tony has his car running, especially on a street car. Most Equal Length manifolds tend to crack with street use due to expansion and contraction. It should make good power and have good dyno results since the design will flow a lot smoother than a Log style manifold like the FMAX. Bracing the manifold/turbo combo will also be a big challenge as the weight from the turbo tends to put a lot of stress on a manifold. It can be made to fit a T3 or T4 exhaust housing.

there is another guy in FL who bought one for his car too. I forgot his name but he is goin to be running a T4. His manifold is a lil diffrent, the turbo sits on top rather than the bottom.

I'll get u the contact info by tomorrow. Louis does have good point in re: cracking due to expansion and contraction Bruce can explain a little better than I can. It will definetely flow a lot better than a log style manifold like the Fmax or Rev Hard who also makes manifold for our cars if you order it. Bracing the turbo is already done. One of Bruce's main concerns is bracing anything hangin from the collector. He even likes to brace the wastegate flange eventhough sometimes is not needed. Bruce's background includes making custom lenght manifolds for porshes at a recognized Porshe tunning shop. The manifold that was made for my car sits the turbo on the bottom, it can be fitted in with the a/c if you are willing to run slimer fans. I can send some pics of the car with the manifold bolted on. I don't have a way of posting them.

One wasalso made for a Turbo ZX2. He has a t3t04e Ball bearing turbo and has been running it for over 6 months now with out a single crack. Also the technical know how on building these manifolds came from building them on 900+ hp Porsches for Protomotive Engineering. That was a few years ago and None of them have ever come back with a crack. When it comes down to it, it's not the design of the manifold, but the knowledge of the man who built it. These manifolds are self supportive and will carry the weight of the turbo with ease. They will not crack. So throw that out the window. If you want to know more about the Manifold contact Bruce Collins, at Goodfela68@aol.com. He will be more then glad to assist you in anyway he can.

you can barely tell its a turbo!! it just looks like a sick kind of header! I need one for my trbo motor soon to be built. *** got a price for this piece? What kinda turbo flange does this have?

aight got *** price....and damn!
"$775.00 for an equal length manifold with an internal wastegate and $850.00 for one with a external wastegate. To have this unit coated with jet coat add another $150.00"

Does *** know if it provides more of a better flow than the other advailable ones.

Who's car is that?

What type of intercooler is that? and what size?

Its either the Apexi Skyline or XS engineering core. SOmething like 24x10.8x3.5, its huge and you have to cut pretty much the whole reinforcement which isnt safe.

That's Tony's (se-riously boosted) car. And, that's an Apex'I Sylvia FMIC.

Just wondering... why does that manifold look different than this Protech manifold?

That was the first manifold that Bruce built and was supposed to be used on Tony's car. But, he decided to change the design a bit and he just built a whole new manifold.

Thanks for clearing that up...

Any info on why he changed the design?

We had a slight clearance issue.

i take it the compressor housing is going to be rotated away from the block right? otherewise the outlet wont have anything to pump air into!

stop making me jealous!

That was the old manifold. It will fit a T3/T4 ok but the T4 he was useing was a lil big hehehe.
