No experience here but I dont think that is such a good idea with the stock wiring. I've heard people melting their headlight wires with 85watt bulbs. I think 80watts is an overkill even for the headlights. Anyone??

I wouldn't try it.
Even if you didn't "melt" any wiring, the bulbs wouldn't last as long as the OE ones.

well heres the story..

I got these lights off of ebay. they are some plasma bulbs. i got them for like $16+ including shipping. thought it was a good deal. they didnt say that they where 80W on the page when i bid on them. they have a 10 year warranty, and have a fiberglass base so they wont melt anything..i dont see what is fiberglass on these things.

i guess i want to know what was melting when people tried this...the wires coming out the back of the fog light housing, the housing itself, etc. if its something that is preventative, i might try it. other then that, i may have to return them or try to exchange them for 55w bulbs.

go here to see the webpage - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=600253753&ed=1011146861

info overload!!

well, i was reading some stuff on the forum link, and some people used 80W and where ok...but most people where talking about headlights. i guess i could just watch them. i wonder hosw bright they will be to? im npt trying to be a rice boy, i just want to be able to see :-)

Yeah I know the forum was more about headlights but i figured they might be a little helpful. I really think 80 is an overkill for the stock 35watts?? I think you can be able to change the wires and run without a problem, or you can just plug the bulbs you got and see what happens ;) but you'll have to take the risk of melting your stuff. I know those Nx fogs really need some upgrading *** mine was useless when I had it too  But I took mine off to get some air into the DET:rolleyes:
Good luck,
Nick

well, i put them in. the back hasnt melted. i left them on for a while, and the lenses got hot, but the backs didnt melt. i had 2 stripped screws that i had to drill the heads off of on one light. i figure if somthing happends, i will just get a nice set of PIAA driving lights to go in the same holes, and ditch the stock ones.
BTW - the stock fog lights are 55W.

NXTremeSE-R, how did it go with the fog lights??

well, besides the rusting/stuck screws and drilling off screw heads, and putting some silicone on one light to make sure it wouldn't leak...it wasnt to bad :-) so far so good. im just going to try to remember to not leave them on if im stopped for a long time at night. i would think that if im moving, air will cool the lenses. another thought i had was that if they got really hot, and then some water or something splashed on them..i dont want the lenses to crack. i also accidentally touched one of them (lightly). i tried to wipe off where i touched it with a paper towel. no problems yet.
