So im getting my car painted within the next week. Im looking to switch colors, but nothing to drastic.

The original color was Aztec Red.

Does anyone know of a stock car that has the same color red but metallic? Or something even close.

Reason being is that im going to use that color, then add a red pearl for depth.

Hrm i dunno about red, but i know my 90 300zx's stock color is that Metallic Black, which i think is an amazingly awsome looking color....i dont think the red verzion has a metallic flake in it *** like the black so this reply doesnt really help you but hey, gives you something to maybe look into LOL

I would grab the red off the P11's color code AR2, Aztec Red is AG2 and is a bit too orangy for me, I like the deep reds. You could also grab Hondas Milano Red, VW/Audi Tornado Red or Toyota Absolute Red. Any of those colors will do and have no flake/peral in them, then lay your own pearl coat to suit your desire.

Just keep your eye out for a red you like off a stock automobile on the road or at a dealership. Then look up in a chip book or online at paintscratch.com, then you can get the color code to either give to the painter or use it to get your own paint.

Are the ones you listed Honkey, very similar to the AG2?

Im not doing door jambs or anything, just an exterior respray.

they are all red colors, not a huge difference. it wouldnt be too out of place... ever see a factory tri-stage paint (basecoat, pearl coat, clear), or even some heavy metallic BC/CC finishes? Most of the time under the hood/trunk/in jambs arent done in the pearl and are off a good amount in tone, and look just fine. as long as you arent doing a heavy color change it wont look stupid.

I like the Mazda3 red...its a nice metallic.

Might be worth it to go to a paint shop and look at one of their books with all of the car makers paint samples.

there's a guy who runs around my area in a jetta. he's a red mettalic, actually now that i think about it he comes into my shop to get his oil changed. anyway it looks real sharp.....specially when the sun beams it. if i see him i will try to track him down for ya.
