I am interested in replacing my valves and am a little lost on what the best option might be... I looked online and found Ferrea stainless valves are $24 each...seems like a lot are there other brands that are significantly cheaper? am I better off just getting my stock valves coated? If a person goes with stainless aftermarket valves is it still a good idea to have them coated? Would oversized valves be of much benefit, and would it cost much in work on the head to make them work/be effective? thanks for your input!

Are you planning a Monster build up? If so, you will definately need Stainless Steel Valves. It would suck for you to build the bottom end only to burn a valve because you didn't want to pay an extra $400.00 for valves. It is cheap insurance. Oversized valves = more wieght. Go .5mm larger rather than 1mm over. You will save weight and possible wear on the valvetrain. Coatings are beneficial whether on stock valves or Stainless Steel. Coatings also help deter carbon deposits on the valve seats. Realistically, coating the stock valves will cost just as much as stainless steel valves and there will be the possibility of burning a valve with high boost levels.

i have the ferrea SS valves, .5mm over, bronze valve guides on my engine at pineapple racing. they are swirl finished also (helps better atomize the fuel with air and aids in the combustion process by not creating turbulence and filling the cylinder completly) and come with a decent coating of what i believe is swain tech. i got them for 22 a piece. i have heard some mixed reviews of them, but rob has had no complaints. the next step up (i can't remember the brand name) were about 10 bucks a piece more...no thanks

Race Engineering has the Ferrea for sale on thier site. I had to get custom Manley Stainless Steel valves since I have an SR20DET head with the larger 7mm stems.

Which of the (2) are you talking about? The Ferrea valves or the custom Manley valves?
There are numerous Ferrea dealers accross California; Dynamic, XS Engineering, AEBS, etc...

The Manley. I have a det head and checked into those. I don't wanna spend the xtra cash on the 7mm that's why i'm looking for a regular head.

You need to have the "Hook Up"! They aren't that expensive, you just need to know part numbers and measurements.
