: N4B motor?
SucKit 02-04-2002, 12:19 PM My friend went to his distributor and saw a CA18det. Its supposedly has the same top mount as the Gti-r, its awd, same mounts. The N4B was stamped on the timing cover but it was tagged ca18det. How much power does this push out?
Sr20 B12 02-04-2002, 02:56 PM My father has a RWD Ca18det in storage. He converted it to FWD application when he ran it in his B12. It definatly does not have the same intercooler as the GTi-R! Think more like a BB, but smaller. I belive it came with 185hp's AWD and 205hp's RWD (i'm not sure).
It's a pretty nice engine. It got us a 14.8 @ 10?mph with 3psi of boost, no intercooler, 14" rims and tires (wheel spin like crazy) and boging at the line.
SucKit 02-04-2002, 07:57 PM Really 185hp? Thats not that bad for something you can get dirt cheap. Any idea what kind of turbo it uses?
87SENTRASE 01-21-2007, 03:25 AM Hate to bump another old thread again, the ca18det is actually 175 crank HP FWD or RWD model both produce the same crank power. The ca18det has oil jets and all like a sr20det, however unlike an sr20 the sa can easily be conver from FWD to RWD or vice versa!
There were two versions of it, one non intercooled, and the GT-R version came with a TMIC. Turbine OEM was a Garrett T25 boost was set at 6psi.
Nissan also made a super-turbo which was a 8.0 c/r turbo & supercharged motor, very nasty.
The ca18det is home to the PB12 & KN12 chassis, however I have pics of it in a B13 SE-R.
it is better than having bad info around
I want to hear more about the super turbo what car was it in?
crash course 01-21-2007, 11:35 AM if it is awd it is probably from a bluebird (they started putting ca18's in the u11 models).
yeah back in 1988 nissan actually did produce a supercharged + turbocharged motor called the ma09ert. it was available in the march super turbo. power figures were a whopping 110ps, which is respectable considering this was from less than 1.0 liter of displacement. too bad nissan didn't take the technology further and give us an sr20dert :).

87SENTRASE 01-22-2007, 01:43 PM The Nissan Micra March R came with the ma09ert 998cc 8.0:1 C/R TMIC twin charged masterpiece! The famed "Super Turbo" was one name for it, however this was an R-Type Nissan Micra March R. As history reflects there was the R, GT-R, GTi-R, and end of deal from there. This was the fist R of it's type & paved the way for the GT-R ca18det, which blazed an open trail for the GTi & GTi-R sr20det. Mostly the GTi-R as this was the rally spec, the GTi was basic!

I have more pictures though this is a fully prepped "R" (Rally edition) Micra, I have pictures of the motor, when I locate them I will share with you all. The standard Micra & Figaro both shared the ma10et with a single T2 turbine have images of all of these awesome cars, off topic the newer Nissan Partol packs a GT51 and can roll out too.
Nismo made more for this car in Japan than they offer for any one car in the USA. Cams, chips, kits, you name it, I have seen it offered for the Micra March R.
DanniNX 01-22-2007, 07:30 PM some (if not all) european s13 200sx came with the ca18det, sometimes named 180sx. Suprisingly they only seem to be about as fast as sr20de equipped cars.
87SENTRASE 01-22-2007, 08:10 PM As not to deviate much from the ca18 topic, but we will offer you an assorment os delicious images for your savory appetite S.T. so enjoy & peep this little one, and notice the OEM intercooler position!

Please do.
50/50 01-24-2007, 10:22 PM Is it true that the ca18det internals are shot peened from the factory and have forged pistons.
87SENTRASE 01-25-2007, 07:47 PM Now HOLD up, do not get me to lying here Bro, as far as I know these engines were manufactured like all the rest of common production general use engines. If they are shot peened and all that. . . WOW! However I find this hard to believe this could be true, though do not qute me.
All I can tell you about the ca18et, ca16de, ca18de, ca20de, & ca18det is they are all iron block construction, not aluminum. The blocks weigh much more than the sr20 style. The JDM turbo version also have oil jets under each piston, there is more but I'll have to dig back for info.
Also still have not forgotten about the ma09ert pictures for you guys, busy with work. -Me
