: Analog to digital cluster wiring diagram
sinistersntra91 08-18-2005, 01:15 AM For all you guys who want to go digital here is a schematic I have drawn up you can see the colors better if you bring it up in Microsoft Paint and zoom in on it. This was based off a 91-92 with tach Analog Cluster (NX, Sentra, 1.6L or 2.0L they are the same) and a 92 NX1600 Digital cluster. Im pretty sure the 93-94 analog wiring is different, I will do a write up on that soon. The schematic shows you exaclty where all the wires go and they are color coded exactly the same as the actual wires, on each harness all you have to do is cut an solder accordingly, the three on top are the analog harnesses and the three on the bottom are the digital, the only other thing you have to do is swap out the speed pinions and run the two wires through the fire wall and connect to the ECU then from the ECU to the back of the digital cluster. I spent 4 hours and 2 FSMs drawing this up for my friend so I can install this on his car so I figured I would share, enjoy!
The Diagram has been revised some wire colors may not match yours but the wires are where they need to go as far as I know.

Also you could also use this if you want to go from digital to analog just switch pinions and run a speedometer cable through the firewall to the back of the cluster.

V.Putin 08-18-2005, 04:58 AM Thanks for your information. I'll be using your diagram when I convert mine to analog. It's very helpful.
why would you want to convert to digital?
and analog meaning speedo cable and 'digital' meaning speed sensor, right?

just to have something different and I think it looks kinda cool. Analog is the cluster that uses needle type gauges which 91-92 uses a cable driven speed pinion where 93-94 uses an electric driven speed speed pinion. The digital cluster is exclusive to the NX1600, instead of needle type gauges its all digital read out and it uses a electric speed pinion. Hope that helps

Because the digital NX cluster is cool! :biggthump
sinistersntra91 08-20-2005, 11:22 PM swap went sucessfully! :biggthump
Serban 08-20-2005, 11:25 PM What did you guys do about the speedo? 91-92 have the cable. I wanna know more, cause now I want to do the cluster...again.
Toolapcfan 08-21-2005, 12:14 AM To make it even more usefull, I've got most of the direct wire swapping info compiled to help you with this swap. If I get the time, I'll finish it and post it.
STRATTON 08-21-2005, 12:16 AM yeah rob i remember you mentioning that you could do it. shit if you can tell us how id be all about putting in a digital cluster. ill just get a small tach.
stratton.

You dont need a tach there is already one there its digital too.
STRATTON 08-21-2005, 01:51 PM the digital tach is way off. i would need a aftermarket analog tach.

oh ok got ya
nismo sentra 08-21-2005, 06:49 PM witch car do u get the gauges from or can you get them on ebay

Bjorn 08-21-2005, 08:23 PM You dont need a tach there is already one there its digital too. BTW something has to be done with the dimmer switch for this to work I went and looked at it at night to see how it looked and the back lighting only works when the headlights are off which leads me to believe that that has something to do with the dimmer switch once I figure it out Ill let you all know.
I think you need the dimmer switch plugged in (just like the hazards) - my 93 NX2000 has had the same issue as that since I unplugged it. Maybe you could just plug it in but never use it?

See post #8 for correction.
