: My new Bling, Bling
Of first off, yes they're heavy, yes they slow the car down, no I don't know how much they weigh, they're 18's, 225/40/18, and YES I LOVE THE WAY THEY LOOK! :D Seriously though I still have my Rotas for playing on. I need that big wheel look for showing off. My front bumper is in the paint shop at the moment so I have the stock one on.

I'll trade ya the 15's for your direct port setup..:D
I'd like to see a pic from directly in front or behind the car, so you can see exactly how wide the tires are.
Looks good. I love the big tired look myself.
I don't think I could fit anything wider than the 215s I have on the NX2000 though, without some serious work.
I'll take a pic today from the rear. It's really insane how wide they are.
Saaby 02-07-2002, 10:44 AM I never really got to find out what rolling the fenders means exactly. Anyone care to explain.

Rolling the fenders is the process to where you actually roll the lip under your fender up. It sticks out probably an inch, and you can use some sort of round pole. I use a baseball bat, and gradually roll the lip upwards so it doesn't stick out. This also reduces the chances of this lip cutting your tires when you have big wheels.
MaddMatt 02-08-2002, 06:02 PM I do not condone the use of huge wheels on small import cars. It makes the car look like a rolling cartoon.
But if you like it, more power to you (you'll need it to get those bigass things rollin'). Not only do they hurt acceleration, braking distance is also greatly affected by the big increase of spinning inertia. I think it can be dangerous in certain situations.
Enjoy.

Well I appreciate your honesty however I like my "rolling cartoon". I don't really see how big wheels can be dangerous. However running 200+ hp on a fwd car I can see being VERY dangerous. It's all in the driver in both cases. This is my 8th set of 18" wheels so I'm pretty sure I can handle it. I would however tend to worry more along the lines of some 16 year old kid putting a 100hp shot of Nitrous on his car more. The more I think about it, if anything I feel that me having big wheels is SAFER, then when I was running my Rotas. I was much more prone to speeding and driving wrecklessly then as opposed to now with the threat of ruining $2000 wheels.
MaddMatt 02-08-2002, 10:26 PM I was refering to the increase of rolling mass lengthening your braking distance as being potentially dangerous. That's a lot of extra spinning inertia.
But the car looks nice and clean! I'll give ya a thumbs up for that!

Matt
Wouldn't the larger contact patch of wider tires lower braking distance?
