hey are these s-afc electronics a replacement for your ecu? or does it just err override your ecu? if so, would it be better to just get one to control my *soon to be* det, or just get the jwt modified ecu? also, does anybody know how much that new aem programmable EMS is gonna cost??

The S-AFC fools your ECU into reading more or less air than is actually going into the engine, enabling you to richen or lean out the fuel mixture. It intercepts the air flow meter signal to ECU and modifies it. If you don't know anyone that can tune it for you, I would suggest the JWT. My $.02 , first two sentences are FACT the third is my opinion. (Not trying to get the whole JWT vs AFC vs FMU debate started again :p )

man..just go with the JWT ECU....I'm sitting here with 3 cracked pistons b/c I chose that route. There are so many things that can go wrong with that setup. It will cost you in the long run..Trust me..

wow that sucks. What were u hittin on your EGT? Use a EGT and A/F to tune your AFC's for those of you goin that route. Ohh Try the new Emanage more powerful so u can blow your engine up faster if u have no clue how to tune a car. :D

lol...EGT's were about 1250 after the turbo. The problem was that unless the engine was a WOT, it would run lean while boosting. I think that when the throttle was only open like halfway, the injectors were only spraying for that amount of throttle. The ECU was still trying to find the best A/F ratio....and it just couldn't read the amount of air that was coming in. That's my guess. It worked fine as long as I was at WOT. But, this is a chickenshit way of tuning, and I knew that when I did it. So, now I've got to tear it down and do it the right way.

ok, well 1 question about jwt ecu's, how often do you need them retuned? that is after i get the det, i plan on new intkae manifold, maf, fuel pump, and boostin a bit, when would i need them to put a new program on it?

I bet you were running way hotter than what that EGT gauge showed. U should have mounted it into the #1 runner 1-2" from the head. The reading u were getting was a lil cooler than what it was suppose to be. How did u set the fuel trim? (U were on the 370cc's right?) Did u start with a baseline and test the EGT's from that point at 6psi and work your way up? to see at what boost u started to run hot and try to add more fuel to the fire?
