Okay, all started months ago. I had a Clarion HU and switched back to my stock HU, for a more stealth look. I had 1 amp hooked up and everything was fine. Then, all of a sudden my stereo started messing up on me. I thought it was my 3 y/o amp starting to go out on me. So, I decide to ditch the amp and sub (sittin in my closet now). The amp went into protection mode when I would turn it halfway up (not really loud at all). So I thought my amp got moisture in it or got wet or something.

Now, I hooked up just my components (mids in the doors to rear channels, and tweets to front channels). And when I turn up the music, they shut off on me. So, obviously this is something with the car wiring harness or something. Anybody had previous problems like this? I know I just need to find some time (HA) and figure it out cause it can only be but 4 wires that are causing this, but I need suggestions.

Remember, after taking out amp and all, I still get this problem.

One of your speakers is shorted out. Pull your speakers and make sure you didnt screw through it or the tabs on the speaker are not touching the door metal.

it is a goood possability that one of your speakers is grounding, also you said you have component speakers and if this is true your factory head unit at 10 watts or so rms does not have the power to do this. it is a lot easier to blow a speaker by underpowering it than overpowering it. it is not god for the speakers.
