: NX or Q

normally i would post this in off topic. But i would like input from nx owners.

Most of you already know the front end of my car is cracked up. Should I fix this car or should I cut my losses (or give them to someone else) and get a Q45. I have found some really good deals on Q's lately. This car is not in highdemand at all. And it gets decent gas mileage for a V8. Only downside is slightly more expensive parts.

I hear ya man.. I guess you'll have to ask yourself, do you want to keep the NX and have fun, or 'grow up' and drive the Q? It's a nicer car, no way around it, and the ladies all appreciate nice things. On the other hand, you're married, so "she ain't going nowhere" and you can do whatever you want.

The end result is this.. you can buy the Q, be happy driving in a smooth ride, the leather smell, the cold AC, but you'll always miss the little NX. If you must, buy the Q and put a car-cover over the NX so you can have a project to fix and get back on the road in about 3 months when the novelty of the Q wears off.

On the other hand.. the NX won't be going down in value any further, but I guarantee the Q will. I had an I30, that thing lost so much money in 9 months it put us upside-down on our next car. (5k depreciation.. and I paid a couple hundred over trade-in value when I bought it) In the past 5 cars we've owned, that was the first one to screw us.

Man keep the NX!!!! I was in a similar situation, but I had an option to buy the 3.5 Altima. It just didn't add up, dont get me wrong the altima would be fun to drive, but that feeling would wear off. I've owned my nx for 4 years now and love driving it everyday. Theres something about the older car "feeling", I think you would like to hear your engine roar when you gun it. When I test drove the altima, I barely heard the engine in the cabin and I didn't have that "connection" to the car. Keep your NX man, do yourself a favor :D

i know the q isnt an NX thats the point. I would be buying a car that would be reminiscent (sp?) of when I used to drive my dad's (RIP pops) 94 caprice classic (awesome car). Big plushy V8 with nice power and decent handling. But the Q is hella more reliable than a caprice/impala.

buy the Q or don't... just don't sell the NX, we can't afford to lose you.

I was thinking about a G but alas I would like to go back to driving a hog of a car. Although G's are alot more plushy than an NX, and if I got a P10 I could still get some use out of my plms cable.

Here's the way I look at it: the NX can be a hassle, but it is worth it too me to not have a car payment. I worked on my wife's car this weekend since it is out of warranty, and we still have payments. The Q is nice, but if you only drive 5 miles (or minutes) from work, and your wife is getting a Tc; then I think it is up to you if you want the payment for that.

I have my NX as my project, and my SE-R is my daily driver/beater. No payment, stock, reliable and easy to fix. Project cars can be a PITA to drive everyday, so my long-winded thought is keep the NX and find a good, cheaper car for winter, etc.

Good luck w/ your decision.

i was in the same boat as you but i thought to myself once a nx owners always a nx owner. look i put a cover on my hit nx then i bought a eagle talon awd turbo its a great winter car easy to find parts etc. i thought of going luxury its just not my style right now maybe when i am 65 and can no longer wrench.

the only reason you should buy the q is because you have more than 1 kid. you and your wife go everywhere with you. if i was you i would do what most of my ser friends go buy a altima or a maxima. you don't want a car note go use that money and buy some property that where the money at.

real estate market is flimsy right now, and my wife and I do not go everywhere together we both work and shes in school part time. We both need our own cars. Also I cannot keep the NX and buy another car because I live in an apartment complex, no room for a 3rd car and Im not willing to spend the upkeep on 3 cars for 2 people. So its either keep the NX and fix it back up or buy something newer. But serious my NX has been nothing but a money pit for the last 6 months.

to make some of you happy, I did price parts from courtesy for an all new front end and fenders for my car which actually arent that expensive. Lower spoiler was only $368 brand new. If I decide to seriously fix this car this time, Im getting a ful paint job either super black or that 350z orange.

I have cared after two Q's for a friend of mine. Great cars. High speed cruisers. The early models had stiffer suspensions than the 94 and later. BUT the early cars like to have thier trans fluid changed OFTEN!!!! If not they failed which is why most Q45 are list cheap and have a disclaimer that the trans is soft or needs help. Get the Q. Drive in upper end sports sedan heaven for a while and fix the NX later....

fonque, if it'll help, i have a spare lower spoiler for my nx that is slightly chipping where the two bars are, but i can hand it over for near to nothing (+s/h). NOW will you stay?!

 :biggthump
