Ball Bearing T28 or Regular T28

I need to decide on a turbo for my 98 Sentra Se. I’ve decided on a T28 but can’t decide if I should spend the extra money and get the Ball Bearing model or the regular model. Anybody have any experience with these T28’s. I know that the ball bearing will reduce lag but I just don’t know how much lag a regular T28 will have on our cars. I know that on big turbo it makes a big difference. But I wouldn’t think a T28 would have much lag on our cars.

Just get the regular T28. The motor that you are running is 9.5 to 1 compression so what ever lag the turbo might have will be gone on your US spec motor. The GTIR turbo is the bect choice you have. Very responsive and great mid-top end power.

if you have the right person build your regular t28 you won't be able to tell the difference

So...if I have a BB det then is it worth getting the ball bearing T28? what is the price difference?

SR20deutah, please read the post carefully. Ball bearings aren't really worth it on a T28, because the turbo spools so well already. The price difference between a standard and ball bearing, is signifigant, usually at least 500 bucks.

Sorry about the dumb question, I guess what I really meant to ask is what is the advantage of the Ball Bearing T28? Does it last longer? If it isn't worth it why does Garrett offer it is what I'm wondering.

because garrett is going to make a crap load of money off you if you buy that ball bearing

Just in case anybody is interested, I am selling S15 Sylvia spec T-28's. These are almost exactly the same using all new garrett CHRA's with the exception of a sleeve bearing instead of ball bearing. Letting em go for $670 shipped. Thanks!
